In some areas in halo 2 campaign, despite how easy it is to get off the set path in a map, their are death barriers to "try" to keep you from exploring a map.
One death barrier I found is at the eastern area of the first lake at delta halo, when you head off the map via a ghost, then enter the lake from the south west shoreline, as you near the cliff side where the MC and ODST's helljumped, the underwater surface turns red, then suddenly the Chief dies from entering a invisible deathbarrier.
Also, as for the big lake, when you enter the lake via a shoreline, then try to exit the lake by trying to ghost climb via the cliffs out of the lake, (Like around the tri gate, and possibly other areas) you will encounter a death barrier at exists on the surface of the lake.
Also, on gravemind, at the second valley, at the northwestern area, their is a death barrier down the slope, while I can easily avoid it, via sputnik, and easily explore the small cliffside, I still find it puzziling that bungie would place a pointless deathbarrier in such a spot, as opposed to putting a barrier that would keep you from going down the slope.
