The title says all. Post some new equipment

My ideas:
-A GOOD trip mine
-An ammo dispenser for you and your team
-C4, but a very, very destructive variant, it's like a spike grenade (it sticks almost everywhere), and you press X and BOOM! (explodes like the assault bomb from Halo 3)
-A deployable cover, but with a funny twist. It deflects proyectiles, almost randomly

What do you guys think?

A Magnet that when used causes the Spirit of Fire to crash into you cause of its magnetic pull.

(When you play as an Elite the Shadow of Intent hits you instead)

Keep in mind that all the equipment in Halo 3 was supposed to change the sennario of the combat and not give either side a direct advantage. Regenerators heal indiscrimnately. You can't fire into a bubble shield but you can't fire out either. Power drains kill shield for sure, but if your opponent escapes you can pursue him without having your shields drained as well. Gravity lifts can be used to enter a base on the second level but defenders could also use that lift to ambush the attackers. Trip mines kill indiscriminately. Ect. Depending on how you use it, it can either give you an advantage or screw you over.

An ammo despenser on the other hand just gives a direct and pretty unfair advantage to your team. You rarely need more ammo for your common weapons, so all it would be used for is to give more ammo to the power weapons.

C4 also gives a direct advantage to one side.

Deployable covers just don't really work, you can climb on them, and how are you supposed to destroy the projector if it reflects projectiles?

As for the "good" trip mine, how is it "good" compared to Halo 3's tripmine?

You're right with your reply, I just was thinking about some new, and fun ideas for equipment, maybe mines aren't as good as they look in my mind.

But I think the trip mine from Halo 3 is very, very underpowered. It should be an useful object, for example, it should kill players with a direct hit

Which is why the make a forum for discussion =)

Problem with that is that people just start using it as a short range grenade that kills instantly. Not to mention that it would make the bubble shield worthless since equipment is not stopped by the bubble shield so you kill whatever is inside with no risk to your health =)

I don't think they will use it for short range,it has a high chance to kill himselves, but, damn, you're right with that, people would use it to blow up bubble shields.

But people use power drainers to kill enemies into shields, but I have to say that it recquires skill to hit the generator and move it

It could be a dual-weildable weapon

I like the idea of a C4 charge. Also, how about a flare that calls in a friendly to aid you in combat or airlift you out of danger for instance.

Sounds cool, but everybody has a mic. It could be useful for people who dont speak English (I'm an example, I'm Spanish, I don't speak perfectly English)

Helping out the 7th column community with reasonable posts since '07.

It's a size of a radio, it is a radio and when you pick it up and tune into Tokyo a longsword flies over the map, everyone who is in private/party chat are now in game and are forced to communicate until game is over.

Exactly. It could become a reality if we get to fly Pelicans...

good ideas, but equipment ruined gameplay for me. For example - people who camp in bubble shields with shotguns and melee weapons.

Legitimate tactic i suppose, but it brought gameplay to a standstill

Edit it out in forge. Problem solved. Hopefully Reach will have a custom game finder to make it easier to find people who want to play the game your way.

Personally the equipment I would add (though it is more of a modification) would be a smokescreen. The flare is great for blinding people, but to be honest, it is way too effective and painful, and makes me go blind whenever it is used. If the flare were to instead be replaced by a ball that releases a large dome of smoke in the area, it still blocks the view of everyone inside of the smoke or trying to look through the smoke, but it doesn't blind people who are looking at the smoke. I mean, if you use a flare in the center of guardian, it doesn't matter where you are on the map, if you look towards the center you get blinded, and there shouldn't be a piece of equipment with that sort of retina destructive range.

No have a "spore flare" you throw it on the floor, thousands of infection forms jump out infect nearby people and they are your slaves who you command to attack

That could become a problem if people Forge Maps to tilt into their favour.

Its not like quitting out of the custom game will have any negative effects on you. Hopefully Bungie would include some sort of summary feature for the gametype that shows any modifications from the gametype's default settings. And maybe some type of map previewer where it shows what the map looks like from a certain set of fixed angles.
