I cannot believe I am quoting Marty.

Anyway, on topic, awesome! I'll have to go play Halo 2 soon!

Welcome to the town of "Diligence." I'm Mayor Due.

I wish my other Gamertag was still Gold, I had a lot of games played on it. I can't even find the disc anymore. Anyways, great game dudes! Send my love to Waterworks.

Halo 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. I wish Halo 3 was more like it... oh wel there's always hope for Reach!

Good job guys- way to make a great game. It was revolutionary in its time and it is a legend today. What's done is done and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you.

ah, Halo 2. My first encounter of online gaming. How I love you so.

Happy b-day halo 2!!! I had some good times with you so long ago. Back when all I played was campaign. Thanks Bungie for such great games and memories.

E4web

When I first saw Halo 2? I cried tears of joy.

When it was released I cried some more because:

(a) That screenshot and its related video were not representative of final gameplay, but this was made up by;

(b) The online gameplay - this was (and in some respects still is) truly one of a kind, as it really did push the features of XBox LIVE 3.0. How many other games have set so many standards in the industry? I have clocked more hours on Halo 2 than all of my other games combined, offline or online (including Halo 3). It's just a shame it was rushed out. I, as well as many others, would have loved online co-op and file sharing/saved films as was planned.

I think I might just play Halo 2 this weekend, just to confuse all the players of the 'other' franchise on my friends list. I might also have a crack at Legendary (I have only just managed to get past the Sniper Jackals, I think I last left it on Metropolis).

EDIT: Oh, and happy birthday Halo 2; thanks for the memories! Thanks to all the talented people at Bungie of old, especially Chris Carney and his team for the multiplayer maps, Staten for being awesome at what he does, Marty for making my soul weep and for "saving the story" and all the other people at Bungie who developed a milestone in the gaming industry. Thank you all for (as the old saying goes) "one helluva pulse-pounding experience!"

Non facete nobis calcitrare vestrum perinæum.

Man I was never more hyped for a game than i was for Halo 2 (thank you awesome E3 trailer :D) The ending and a few of the flood infested campaign missions were downers but multiplayer was great and i never get tired of playing outskirts and metropolis

I was blinded by the texture pop-in if that is the definition of majesty.

The map Terminal is pretty hip actually.

I wasn't remotely blinded by it's majesty. The whole time I played it I was thinking something like "Why did they change that?". Halo 3 is better than 2, but for me the original will always be king.

Ah Halo 2.
Best Campaign of the Halo Series in my opinion.

I had it since the week it was first out but I only got to play it online in multi-player last year.

I'm gonna fire this baby up again tomorrow when I have time =D

Thanks for choosing to whine over being a productive member of the community and possible element towards advancing Reach.

Ah the good old days...still miss Waterworks and Terminal with a passion. No Forged map will ever replace them.

Marty baby, why won't you return my calls?

XD

Sheesh. 5 years? It's scary. Really. To think, 5 years ago today, I was 11, sitting in my living room, playing on the game that turned me into who I am today.

It's been a pleasure, Bungie.

Good huntin'!

The game was amazing when I layed my hands on that controller, and It still is.

  • 11.09.2009 3:40 PM PDT

Wow, five years? I've got some terrific memories from this title.

Happy Birthday, Halo 2!

In order to fully appreciate what Halo 2 was you needed to play the original Halo. We started a thursday tradition of sloppy food, Halo and no women. That was many years ago and still goes on till this day. Halo is our man sanctuary! My buddy would bring his box over and we would system link, one upstairs one downstairs. There was nothing more gratifying than scoping in before the shot and smirking then BLAMO! right in the dome follwed by a muffled son of a b*&%!! and stomping on the floor above. I knew Halo 2 was gonna be something special but it so exceeded our expectations, the matchmaking was sheer genius and ran like a champ (most of the time). Then there was the stats afterwards, the game histories, different gameplay types, proximity voice, dual wielding, the insane visuals, things I never would have imagined possible. I for one am ever grateful for Bungie and Halo you guys keep setting the bar higher and higher, and I have to give props to Marty for the audio. Thanks for the good times Bungie, and here's to many more!

Somewhere out there... in an alternate reality... Marty decided to stay in the ad jingle business, bringing about an age of amazingly orchestrated Pampers commercials.

Yay! I loved Halo 2. That's what we would always play during the summer of '07, and everytime I played it, I become more and more pumped for Halo 3.

  • 11.09.2009 3:55 PM PDT

"Go then. There are other worlds than these."

I still remember popping in the disc after picking it up at a midnight release. I was tired and my bones were still chilled, but the title screen with the carrier over new mombassa blew my mind and I couldn't resist the urge to start playing instead of going to bed.

Matchmaking was the reason I signed up for Live even though I didn't have internet at home. I started dragging my xbox into the office at night a couple times a week to get my frag on.

I actually played a few campaign levels on it yesterday, great game. The multiplayer is still fun too, none of the people in my games were superbouncing, BXR-ing, or otherwise exploiting. I miss those good maps...

  • 11.09.2009 4:05 PM PDT

Ah, Halo 2. I played the crap outta you back in the day. Big time!

You were by far the best introduction to a multiplayer shooter that anyone could have birthed. Too bad the haxorz ruined all my matchmaking fun, or I'd probably still be massaging your shiny guns today!

Happy Birthday, old friend... I can't believe it's been 5 years already! You will never be forgotten and I promise that you'll don my disk drive whenever the sweet smells of reminiscence fill the air.

**On a similar anniversarial note, this past 7th marked my own personal 5-year (official; though I'd been trolling under the penname 'guest' for years) affair with Bungie.net and the Seventh Column!**
