When I first saw Halo 2? I cried tears of joy.
When it was released I cried some more because:
(a) That screenshot and its related video were not representative of final gameplay, but this was made up by;
(b) The online gameplay - this was (and in some respects still is) truly one of a kind, as it really did push the features of XBox LIVE 3.0. How many other games have set so many standards in the industry? I have clocked more hours on Halo 2 than all of my other games combined, offline or online (including Halo 3). It's just a shame it was rushed out. I, as well as many others, would have loved online co-op and file sharing/saved films as was planned.
I think I might just play Halo 2 this weekend, just to confuse all the players of the 'other' franchise on my friends list. I might also have a crack at Legendary (I have only just managed to get past the Sniper Jackals, I think I last left it on Metropolis).
EDIT: Oh, and happy birthday Halo 2; thanks for the memories! Thanks to all the talented people at Bungie of old, especially Chris Carney and his team for the multiplayer maps, Staten for being awesome at what he does, Marty for making my soul weep and for "saving the story" and all the other people at Bungie who developed a milestone in the gaming industry. Thank you all for (as the old saying goes) "one helluva pulse-pounding experience!"
