If Reach is going to kick ass, I think they should add things that people have ranted on for for so long, i.e there should be a team/faction gameplay, where in team slayer, you actually SELECT a team, it being the convenant, UNSC, AND the flood, all these should be playable with their own advantages and weapons and abilities. im talking in multiplayer, plus there should be addable bots, so if you dont have live, you can do offline mode. any1 else want to add some suggestions?

poop

agreed.

  • 11.09.2009 11:09 AM PDT

no, those are bad ideas. if they change the formula too much it becomes not halo. i dont mind non halo games, but i like my halo games to be halo, cos their halo. the fact that people have ranted for them for ages doesnt make it a good idea, it just proves people can be idiots and want a game to be totally different. dont like halo gameplay, dont play halo

  • 11.09.2009 11:12 AM PDT

I think Bungie needs to go out with a bang with this one

Well it all depends on opinion. I'd rather play as the UNSC, but might be forced to play as the Covenant. I might end up ranting on the forums.
BTW, isn't that similar to CoD games?

Sigh, these threads are so lame.

If Reach is going to be the ultimate Halo game, it will be designed to please Halo fans. Any real Halo fan plays Halo because they like the characteristics of the game that are particular to the series: weapons on the map, a level playing field, and a type of gameplay where teamplay is rewarded, but there is still a focus on individual skill.

They will add some new gameplay features and tweaks, guns, vehicles, etc. But they will never throw the baby out with the bath water and create some stupid Battlefront / Call of Duty ripoff game, because thats not what Halo is. Games like that may as well be a completely different genre. Halo is the perfect fusion of tactical multiplayer and arcade shooter.

If you're not happy with Halo's feature set on the most basic level, then the series isn't for you. Bungie is not going to dramatically change the design of the entire franchise for people that don't like Halo the way it is, when there are millions of fans that love it.

Hmm If Halo didnt have the flood or the convenant, it wouldnt be halo? durrr, the only change is making the factions playable, as a poster said, making the game go with a bang, halo isnt being dramatically changed, you'd still be playing as yur little spartans and elites, you'd just have more variety in gameplay, and the game is going to be remade also, new engine and new gameplay, it will be a different form of halo, so tbh with a new engine and new gameplay i expect new weapons characters and new modes, this isnt gonna be the halo game we've all played, spartans and elites clash together in an unfair advantage where your shield goes and you die, its going to be different alltogether, since its going to be different, all im doing is mentioning what should be different about it, and since none of the halo games actually let you play as the arse whooping flood, i think this one should since its the last one, and many others think it should too, More/New weapons and vehicles, new factions, a new Deathmatch mode, reach can have so much variety, endless fun, and if you dont like the way halo reach could turn out, go back and play flaming halo 3 lol, Reach wont be like halo 3, as i said, new engine new gameplay.

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

With the mindset given by the topic, Reach is doomed to fail. No matter how good it is, if you believe it should be the ultimate game, every tiny flaw is going to seem a million times worse.

A different point:

And sometimes, what the people rant for is what they complain about everyday after they are given it. Keep in mind that as gamers, not designers, we don't know how to, well...design games. Obviously they should listen to us, but they shouldn't accept everything we want as a good idea. Not by a long shot.

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

Ultimate Halo Game:
1. 20 hour campaign that uses everything we've seen. You fight Covenant, Flood, Sentinels and more of them at once. You get to use Banshees, Hornets, ARs, BRs, Scorpions, Jackal shields...more than once. AI is active and smart. 4 player-split-screen. A few well placed old classic music tracks mixed with tons of new tracks.

2. "Ultimate, never-ending Halo battle"-Firefight. You fight Covenant, Flood and Sentinels. You get to use every weapon and vehicle seen in trilogy plus more. Competitive mode.

3. Multiplayer has all the gametype options from Halo1,2,3 and more like "No melee". An option to play as any of the Halo races from Spartans to Hunters to Drones. Also an ability to turn on ambient music.

4. The ultimate Forge has 100% resources on all maps. All weapons, vehicles and objects on every map. Canvas maps come with the disc. More options like undo.

5. Refined graphics. Bullets come out of weapons, your weapons don't disappear and you won't fall through objects. Enemy animations aren't so few and predictable.

*BANG*

Kinda why I kept that point separate; it wasn't as well thought out.

But let's look at the guy you said had good suggestions. Sure, it's a good idea, but how long would that take to do? Would the story be believable? Would matchmaking be balanced? Could the xbox host those graphics? Could the xbox handle the connection required for all that?

Perfect example of wanting too much.

  • 11.10.2009 11:51 AM PDT

Well concidering its a brand new engine, with brand new capabilities I would say Yes. Matchmaking would be balanced if its worked correctly too. so stop worrying, new engine new game, new stuff and capabilites.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Actually it needs the following...

1. A Great campaign mode with large open environments and memorable abttle sequences like Halo 1 and a great storyline.
2. Great AI.
3. Drop in/drop out co-op.
3. A more refined varient of Firefight.
4. A more refined Forge and Theatre mode.
5. More consistent/less random gameplay.
6. Well designed Multiplayer stages.
7. Great graphics and lighting.

But thing is, most people who complain regard Halo CE highly which is an Halo game. I personally think each Halo game was less good than the one before, they changed things from CE to ODST, and they'll still change things. Hopefully, things will change for the best. And what makes a game Halo, is its relevancy in the universe, not if it's exactly a copy/paste gameplay, and thing is, they pretty much have done that and what did we got? Level design more and more generic and barebone. Sure I like my Halos to play like Halos, but I'd rather see some change in gameplay than see a mediocre Halo game. As much as you like a certain gameplay, playing it in its most basic form isn't necessarily particularly fun even if you're a huge fan of the gameplay. I'm not implying ODSt was Halo in it's most basic form, but it was yet another step in that direction. Oh and keep off MW from Halo, Call of Duty games are so overrated.

To both above posters, the pair of you are right, your both absoulutly right, and as well call of duty os overrated, I have MW2 and its not as good as the magazine says or people say, its full of cheaters/modders, its unbalanced, and some of the levels feel to rushed, this is in MP, the SP was fantastic, probably the best SP i ever played on a game, but the MP was apauling. but the new weapons and upgrades etc make it worth finding a fair gameto play its alright.

I dont really need to say more, the 2 above posters have pretty much taken the words right out my mouth lol, except....

PEOPLE KEEP ADDING YOUR IDEAS FOR AN ULTIMATE HALO GAME!

  • 11.14.2009 12:28 AM PDT

(1)the only way to escape death is death itself.
(2) pwn the world bungie
(3) never give in to BS, your always going good in your own way.

halo reach should be the ultament halo game because it is bungie's last halo game that they are going to make. No one makes halo like bungie thats for damn sure.

om nom nom

Get rid of the Battle Rifle.

There you go, Halo fixed.
