Perhaps Reach should have the NA4.

Yes, definitely. It should be like the Halo: PC version, it's a normal FPS weapon, it has 100 fuel units per tank, and you can hold up to 6 additional tanks, and the flames should reach longer. Today's flamethrowers can reach up to 100 metres, but 500 years in the future, flamethrowers weighs twice as much, and only reach 13,7 metres, and (in canon) they explode if the tanks are shot (which modern flamethrowers don't, and can't do).
A modern flamethrower will explode if it's fuel tank is punctured by an incendiary round (like a tracer). It just has to heat up the fuel enough to ignite, and those Covenant do like their high-heat weapons.
I disagree.
It should be noted that flame thrower operators did not usually face a fiery death from the slightest spark or even from having their tank hit by a tracer bullet as often depicted in modern war films. The Gas Container [i.e. the pressurizer] is filled with a non-flammable gas that is under high pressure. If this tank were ruptured, it might knock the operator forward as it was expended in the same way a pressurized aerosol can bursts outward when punctured. The fuel mixture in the Fuel Containers is difficult to light which is why magnesium filled igniters are required when the weapon is fired. I'd rather trust military officials than some dude on a video game forum.
Plus it's really quite light compared to modern flamethrowers considering the amount of fuel it carries. No it isn't.
Way to misquote:

Fire a bullet into a metal can filled with diesel or napalm and it will merely leak out the hole unless the round was an incendiary type that could possibly ignite the mixture inside. This also applies to the flame thrower Fuel Container.
And to reiterate, the Halo PC/3 flamethrower is not a weapon. It's a brush clearing tool.
