Yes or no? I do, the idea of being able to start all over without buying a new account would be sweet. Resetting as in starting back at one. But then again, really talented players could pwn noobs but both sides are valid arguments to me.

Good, bad, I'm the guy with the clichéd lines.

No. If I'm level 20 in a playlist I don't want to be fighting level 50s that reset their rank.

Don't care either way, don't care for rank.

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

I hate it when people buy second accounts as it is. The ability to reset one's rank would be even worse than that.

I am Field Master Avu Med 'Telcam, Servant of the Abiding Truth, and I have many brothers.

A god who creates tools is still a god. It is not for us to impose qualifications upon the divine or presume to guess its intentions.

just be on your game when reach comes out, and rank up early. There will be plenty of newcomers to achieve a high rank early on.

You guys do realize that you'll become better if you play better people. Constantly playing low skill players makes you develop bad habits that great players pick apart.

Oh and while I'm not a fan of the reset idea, I'm also not a fan of social Trueskill or w/e keeps me playing against people of my caliber in social BTB and multiteam. It's social, I do not want more of a challenge in social playlists then in ranked playlists. Which is the only reason why I'd reset my stats.

Were it so easy.

Oh lovely, then we can have even more boosters, what a splendid idea!

Doesn't matter. The point of the ranking system is to try to match you up in even games. Nothing more, nothing less. The entire purpous of the ranking system is ruined if people can reset their ranks on a whim to sandbag new players.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

There are several more ways that this would be a problem than a benfit. The sad fact is that people will reset their rank out of frustration or boredom because "picking on the little guy" is what brings a smile to their face.

While this may not be 100% of the cases, it is easily the most common.

I voted no, but if the option doesn't exist, people will just reset by purchasing a new account anyway. However, I have ideas to solve that problem, but that's not what the discussion is about. If you want to start a thread on that, let me know and I'll send you my ideas.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind resetting ranks if the ranking system was more perceptive. If the system could see more than just wins/losses and look more for skill indicators, it could shoot people up the ranks. So you reset an account and play the low levels, but it's obvious you're really good, shoot the player up to a 30, or even a 50 if they're that good. That way they don't ruin the lower levels like they do now.

HOWEVER, the high skill should not be set for X amount of games (say 30, 50, 100, or whatever). That means the system will try to place you where it thinks you should go, but you won't earn that rank until you're theoretically consistent enough for the system to know it's pegged you right. That means low levels are safe and high levels are safe. No more wiping up the floor with the new players and no more boosting your rank by manipulating the system and starting a new account. On top of that, a system like this would easily allow players to reset their rank with no detriment to the high or low levels.

While I didn't address the fixes (as we're stuck with True Skill for now) in the following thread, I explored the damage resetting ranks does to H3. Of course part of this is because the system depends on people sticking with their account, but nevertheless, some of these would exist in another system, which we should all be aware of. View my thread here.
