Got Halo questions? You found the answers.
<3 the DMR
Lets get some facts about the BR in here:
While it is slightly harder to use, the BR is NOT a high skill weapon, I don't believe many weapons in Halo could be considered "high skill" the only ones that come close are the sniper weapons. And it is because of the aim assist on each and every weapon. If your opponent's head is even partway inside a BR reticle, the bullets have their trajectory "bent" to an angle coming out of the barrel driving them toward your opponents head. The aim assist can seem like its not there, but you can notice how much it helps your aim when you are in matchmaking. Ex. Your shooting someone a fair distance away, when another enemy walks past you, crossing over your reticle, your aiming reticle is "dragged" away from your actual target, and toward the closer target. This dragging lasts about 1/2 - 3/4 of a second on a target at full speed with no assistance from the player. When you take this and add that the player is constantly aiming for the head of his target, it becomes difficult NOT to achieve a headshot, given that the reticle is fairly large, and the players heads are perceived as larger targets than they really are.
I am not saying the BR is an OP weapon, I just believe that with all this help, it becomes a one-size-fits-all style weapon and people no longer see the purpose in SMG's needlers, PR's Spikers, etc. It removes the variety of the game.
True skill in halo is not determined on how you use a weapon, but how you use a map. Knowing what location provide what cover, how such cover is negated, how to move around the map to maximize the effectiveness of your particular fighting style is how you determine skill.
When you, as a player, know how to move your character in a way that gives you a tactical advantage, you have more skill (Ex. jumping and dodging in an AR rush to avoid other ARs/ dodging shotguns and assassinating)
The BR is not a measure of your skill in the slightest.
EDIT: So to make a long story short, I DONT believe the BR should be removed from Reach, I do, however, believe it could recieve some tweaks as this is still a prototype weapon and has alot of work to go through, I just want to see a revision of the pistol into the automag, as they seem to have hit the balance perfectly with it.
