straight from the book, would i get banned for spoiling the entire story? yet people are getting banned for mentioning some stuff and some things, that tell us absolutely nothing...pretty lame.

no.
if you tell the story of the book, you're not going to be banned.

talking of LEAKED stuff is bannable though. the book is official, so it's not a leak.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

I seriously doubt that the Halo: Reach will have the exact same storyline as Fall of Reach.

It's only common sense. But hey, if a forum ninja says it, maybe people will believe it.

read again the original quote and pay attention to the word I put in bold.

sure it'll have the basic same plot, but there WILL be lots of differences... cause like, it's a game. it can't follow exactly the book.

Same setting, same time period, different point of view is what its goint to be.

perhaps, but it should still follow the main outcome of the story, idk, im just not sure what to believe as of right now. I'm really hoping for some info this coming friday.

Of course it will follow the main outcome of the story.

Imagine it like this. There is the battle of Reach, an event where the Covenant obliterated Humanities 2nd strongest planet with a huge fleet. The book "Fall of Reach" takes a very limited and vague viewpoint from about five selective spartans out of the 30-some spartans left on Reach. Many of the spartans were never introduced to us, and many of their fates were not explored. The book just assumed that they died. Now we might get to find out what happened to them.

what you can be 100% sure of is the outcome.
Reach WILL be glassed, all spartans WILL die. it says we know the end in the teaser for a reason.

besides, if it ended differently, it'd break the canon. >.<

  • 11.10.2009 10:15 AM PDT

well, my original point is, i could completely spoil the original outcome of the story for people and be fine, but "some stuff and things" that say nothing, nor do we even know if there legit, tell us nothing but its a bannable offense even mentioning them, i think its kinda silly.

You never know. It could end in a situation where the spartans are trapped somewhere and unable to help humanity for the rest of the war.

You never know.

Don't hate... ...loathe.

If its a verbatum retelling you could face the wrath of copyright infringment and risk of carpule tunnel.

I'd say no other than that.

The gameplay of the book was pages and words this is buttons and inteactive media. How many books directly translate into a movie?

Edit: Spelling

With the first trailer talking about how you already know what happens, I'm sure a historical retelling of it would be much more helpful then it is bannable.

That said I'd hope and expect that Reach will follow the same vein as ODST in using greater detail and new viewpoints to release new interesting canon, with Reach most likely being both more emotional and story-shattering.

Everybody already knows the story. Anybody who played Halo: CE or Halo 3 knows the "overall outcome" of the story.

The definition of "spoilers" has been previously defined as follows:

"For purposes of the Bungie.net public forum rules, a "spoiler" is defined as any information that reveals details about the game's plot or storyline.

Spoilers do not include common knowledge (e.g., "the Rookie is an ODST" or "you are a human fighting the Covenant") or generalized overviews (e.g., "the game takes place in New Mombasa")."

It is common knowledge that Reach was glassed, and that a bunch of Spartans were killed on Reach.

But as far as spoilers go, I don't think you could spoil it. Hell, you don't even know who the main character of the game is.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

Keep in mind OP that the people that are banned could have been banned for a variet of reasons, including spamming a forum with improper content that is unrelated. I'm pretty confident that if you decided to tell the whole story of the Fall of Reach on this forum, it would get locked for being off topic, and little more.

Depending on how Bungie feels, some threads get locked simply because they are so commonly repeated they do nothing but clog the front page with nonsense, so they are banned. The quality of the content doesn't sidestep the fact that the content may not be allowed.

I was playing ODST and I saw something on the wall that implied bad stuff happened at Reach. Sorry everyone I had to say it.
