My Live account is set to a child account and even though I tried switching the Windows Live ID I still can't download things rated Mature. Does this mean that I won't be able to download the Halo: Reach beta? I know it doesn't come out for a while but I would like to know. Thanks.
same exeact thing happens to me :'( it makes me crying face

I can't hyperlink it because it's "https" instead of "http". Copy and paste into url bar.

It wasn't working so I went to xbox.com and tried it myself. It told me I could update to an adult account when I turn eighteen. Therefore, it solves my problem for later but not for now. :(

Ok, I have been thinking and we all know that the beta is only available through ODST, right? Well, doesn't this mean it can't be a download otherwise you can simply go to the marketplace and download there if you don't have ODST.

That makes sense. I'll have to look into getting rid of the parental lock. Thanks.
Yeah, I would get started on that right away. You have a year to unlock the parental controls, but if you don't use your time wisely, the beta will sneak up on you when you're not ready, and by then it will be too late.

You are suggesting that the beta is already on the disc. Unless Bungie finished the Beta, which they probably haven't even started yet, when ODST was released that's impossible.

Why don't you just create a 1 month when the beta is out? Or better yet, create a whole new account for a year, and set the parental controls your way.

Ya I'll probably just create a one month because I've done too much on my account to create a new one for a year.

Do you think Bungie even knows how its going to work?

RED BRICK STUDIOS!

What if ODST is just updated to have the beta?

Ok I just found something out that should have seemed obvious before. The beta is a download... from the ODST main menu. So if its rated mature (which it most likely will be) there is no way I can play it without going to a friends house or creating a new account. :(

Just would like to point something out, nowhere has it been confirmed that you will need a Gold account to download the demo *grabs the handy dandy ad inside the ODST case* it just says an xbox live gold account and a hard drive are required, for all we know you could download it with silver and play it on your gold account, we'll just have to hold up and wait

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Reach will be classed as a Mature Content file, methinks. If your parents actually signed up an email for it, you'll have to check with them, but otherwise, you're going to have to find a way around it. Parental lock can be annoying, and it's especially annoying to remove once you actually become old enough to no longer need to have one (that's right, it doesn't even do it automatically).
Im guessing the Halo Reach Beta isn't on the ODST disk then...

This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

I'd suggest making a new gold account.

My Live account is set to a child account and even though I tried switching the Windows Live ID I still can't download things rated Mature. Does this mean that I won't be able to download the Halo: Reach beta? I know it doesn't come out for a while but I would like to know. Thanks.

Go to the family settings on your account through the xbox. If you can't find it there, check for the family settings on the system's settings.

Thats what I think may be wrong.

I did this and its set to let me download whatever I want, as long as it is not rated M. So, back to square 1. I would have to update to an adult account, and I am not given the option to do that. This sucks!

Ok I think I found a solution. My little brother has an adult account (????) and apparently any demos (including the Reach beta) downloaded on my xbox are available to anybody to use. All I need is someone to confirm this and then explain how I can access these downloads.
