Matchmaking works.

When you sign in, the first thing you need to do is look at your friends list. Wait for your rank to appear. Then go to optimatch. If your rank doesn't appear first try, sign out, try again.

I am an avid gamer with a passion to keep games fun and strategy provoking, rather than simply button mashing instant-reward games that plague the market nowadays. I'm not kind, but I'm rational, fair, and maybe, just maybe, somewhat intelligent.

If you don't live for something you'll die for nothing.

also if not working try going to downloader page, signing in, and then going back to h2 as quickly as possible, hit optimatch and you should get in.

this worked for me.

leaving your console on all day or longer is a good way to get the RROD. its not advised

People use their 360s to play H2? I have to throw the 180 a bone here and there, and H2 is that bone.

hey John, why dont u guys admit that you're having a problem with halo2 on live. Don't you think its more then a coincidence that other people are getting the same error message all over the world.

1- You resolution is a bunch of crap by the way. My ISP is Rogers High Speed Cable where On my computer I can check the connection speed. I get 11MBPS, this is not dial up here.

2- All of a sudden tons and tons of people are not able to get into matchmaking.

3- You guys have given me the runaround in answering my questions. One person blamed it on my old xbox which is working fine, even though my friend has a 360 and is getting the same problem.

If you don't think we are gona cancel, you should check out this link that will bring you to a thread on BUNGIE.net FORUM that I created.

http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=38834603

Go on check it out and if u tell me its my ISP, thats it.

Hi Curtis,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft online support for Xbox! I am John and I will be helping you today with this issue.

As I understand it, after an auto-update, you receive one of the following error messages when you reach the first step in searching for a Matchmaking game in Halo 2:

"Sorry, we're in the process of updating some configuration files. Please wait a moment and try again later."

CAUSE

Typically, these error messages indicate that you are receiving poor Quality of Service (QoS) from your Internet service provider (ISP).

Note: A pattern among some users involves failure of Internet connection and low Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) values.

THINGS TO TRY

1. Sign in to Xbox Live again later.

So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

If you are having trouble with Xbox Live on Halo 2, you should contact Microsoft support and open up a support ticket. The symptoms you describe seem to indicate a problem with Xbox Live matchmaking services, not anything Bungie maintains.
Well said :)
