Subject: Anyone else not want dual-wielding in Halo Reach?

Title for reference. I don't really want to see it return for a couple of reasons. First, it kind of prevents dual-wieldable weapons from being able to stand on their own and have unique traits about them. Think back to CE when the Plasma Rifle and Plasma Pistol were actually useful and worth picking up. In Halo 3, weapons like these are almost useless without another dual wielded weapon. That leads me to the fact that almost no one dual wields anymore, so what's the point? It has become kind of obsolete; overshadowed in favor of the more powerful single-wielded weapons.

I know that it's probably likely that dual-wielding will see a return in Reach. I just wanted to share my thoughts, as this doesn't seem to be a very common topic on this forum.

Thoughts?

I'm one with the warrior inside. The evidence can't be denied. The entire world will stare. Into this battlefield tonight. As I stand before you with a warrior's heart now. I can feel the strength that will Ensure my victory this time

I would be dissapointed if dual wielding was not in Reach. Also, I would LOVE to dual wield two M6Cs.

Because its impossible for Bungie to change the aspects of weapons from game to game to make them more balanced. If it doesn't work, it should be cut out. Great pirate surgeon logic.

Says you of little imagination.

I dual wield, so one of my favorite features should be taken away just because other people lack the abillity to use it well?

I dual wield and I want to continue to dual wield. You also know that all weapons capable of being dual wielded are stronger when they are not dual wielded.

Probably overshadowed by the BR which is becuase (gross generalization ahead) everyone wants to be like MLG.

KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!

Dual wield SMGs RAP3D the AR and most everything else at close range, so keep dual-wielding. Dual-spikers were also super-powers at mid-range.

im one second from taking this to the next level.

I'd like to keep dual-wielding an option. The controls would be different if they changed.

Big Team Battle Multiflag/Slayer on Standoff/Valhalla/Sandtrap/Avalanche = Win

overshadowed in favor of the more powerful single-wielded weapons.

Put down the BR, try the PP + Spiker once in a while.

Chief vs the scarab? I find that hard to believe to roundhouse boot the scarab's figurative emotion out of the gaming zone.

I never used to, but I dual wield all the time now. I'd hate to see it get cut.

I dont understand why people don't want this. It is so stupid. Its like buying a car and the guy says "Hey, Ill throw in MP3 sync for no extra charge" and you saying no, I would rather not have more features and pay the same price.... Have you ever used one of the weapons on their own. They worke fine. SMG will beat an AR at close range. Plasma rifle works great with a beat down and so on... There is no reason what so ever to take it out...

If there was no dual wielding, you would have been able to say: Put down the BR, try the PP or Spiker. But now, dual wieldable weapons are worthless outside of close range, and horribly weak without a secondary damage-inducer (melee, grenade, second weapon).

No.... it's like you going to buy a car and the dealer saying "I can give you this car with an MP3 player that works... as long as you're honking the horn, and the horn can only honk after you turn on the MP3 player." I would rather have an MP3 player and horn that work by themselves.

See. this is what I find great, You people say the weapons are usless at mid range now(and they are) but, they have been since halo 1. I still play halo 1 online on the PC and the weapons used are Sniper. Pistol. Those weapons were never good at mid range, Ever!

Explain to me again why they can't tweak the dual wieldables so they are both powerful single wielded and powerful dual wielded?

Were it so easy.

I want dual wielding in, just with newer and better weapons to dual wield with.

I've done quite a bit of damage with the various SMGs. Sure with a Plasma anything you pretty much need to follow up with a beat down or ballistic headshot but they still close to tie with shotgun and sword in close range lethality.

Play a more even match then one team/person can't get away with not using a wider variety of weapons (equal matches put you in more close encounters, so you need to use more appropriate weapons). The PR and PP worked at close-mid pulsed and mid tapped. Not so in Halo 3. There were less weapons in Halo 1, and some of them were bad at mid range (Needler and Assault Rifle), but overall a larger percentage of weapons were more versatile, and thus brought more variety to encounters.

The depth could certainly be improved upon from Halo 1 for REACH, though, as nothing is perfect. Halo 1 just did it better than 2 and 3 in terms of unique weapons that could stand up for themselves.

You might also consider that DWing isn't as popular becuase in addition to saccing your grenades for that extra power you lose your offhand weapon whenever you change to your second weapon and melee.

Come on Bungie. We can't melee with both weapons? It's really that hard? And we only have one magnetic thigh strip? Was abducting little kids, replacing them with clones, training them and arming them with a human sized tank and they couldn't spare one more magnetic strip for weapons?

They can, and I would want it done so long as dual wielding didn't become incredibly overpowered at close range.

dont take it out its just stupid its bad enough in ODST but now REACH come on (DONT TAKE DUEL-WEILDING OUT!!!!!)

, dual wieldable weapons are worthless outside of close range, and horribly weak without .

that's the disadvantage of a small one handed weapon. less range, more damage.

However i will admit that game play was smoother in halo CE and ODST and all the weapons have a particularly effective roll. I never really use duels I find one SMG more effective then two. even in campaign a single Automatic Awesome Machine is fun to use and very effective. well at least in halo CE and 2.

so i really don't care if there are duels or not. I just want them to be effective stand alone weapon. and fun to use.

If they were powerful dual wielded, then what's the point in picking up another one? That would be too overpowered.

Oh, and way to come off as a jerk in your first post. You could've said what you wanted to say without making yourself look like an elitist -blam!-.

well most duel weapons have a very slow muzzle velocity or is very inaccurate. so they are restricted to CQC. yes they would be over powered but only at 20m or closer.
