Subject: Anyone else not want dual-wielding in Halo Reach?

But now, dual wieldable weapons are worthless outside of close range, and horribly weak without a secondary damage-inducer (melee, grenade, second weapon).

Explain to me again why they can't tweak the dual wieldables so they are both powerful single wielded and powerful dual wielded?

If they were powerful single wielded, then what's the point in picking up another one? That would be too overpowered.

I'm going to assume you meant the underlined part.

Allow me to begin with saying that I believe that Halo 3's dual wielding system is fine. The single wielded dual wieldables can easily compete with the AR, so they are far from underpowered. Really the spiker and the smg are just like the AR but their traits are tweaked, the spiker on one extreme, the smg on the other, with the AR as the bridge between the two with average rate of fire, spread cone size, bullet speed, and damage per bullet.

When dual wielded though, your rate of fire doubles, the power of each gun drops by a quarter (so roughly 150% normal damage), but you lose the abillity to quickly use grenades, which is crucial in close range combat.

That is how single wielded weapons can be powerful without the dual wieldable weapons being overpowered.

Oh, and way to come off as a jerk in your first post. You could've said what you wanted to say without making yourself look like an elitist -blam!-.

Forgive me, but it doesn't exactly put a smile on my face and a spring in my step when people want to remove features that myself and others really enjoy just because that person doesn't see the point of the feature or assumes that nobody uses that feature.

Tangent here: I've never found grenades useful for CQC. I've used grenades for flushing enemies, killing weakend/fleeing foes or opening for a quick kill. Or is my understanding of CQC off and it that is all part of CQC.

You are welcome to compare notes with my collective knowledge of close quarter combat.

it doese'nt look nextgen , looks good but not nextgen
If by next-gen you mean crappy, dark and colorless, I agree. It doesnt look next-gen at all.

If health is indeed implemented, and both health and shield are treated differently (they get affected differently by what type of weapon is used against them) dual wielding could become something great. If you have 1 weapon who eats away shields, and another weapon that eats away health, dual wielding could have a better function than it already has. I think that they could make this work better on campaign where different type of enemies could have either more health or more shields and you will be forced to pick up two weapons according to that. For an enemy with a bunch of shields 2 plasma rifles would eat away the shields and an enemy with high health, you would be forced to used human weapons.
