Halo is Halo. Stop trying to make it into Call of Duty. Reach of course will have amazing graphics and will have a spectacular story to go with it. Just wait and see and stop complaining. Go play MW2 and stop comparing it to Halo.


Okay you obviously have minimal brain cells and are an idiot. Sorry to actually directly insult you here but I think this guy has the perfect idea. Before Modern Warfare 2 came out I posted a thread very similar to this one about having a more intensive atmosphere. And it was received largely positively. If anyone wants to see I'll send them a link but I'm not going to advertise in here. It's simply the fact that Modern Warfare 2 has been mentioned in this post that all you Hardcore Halo Fans... Like ME! Get pissy over it. So just everyone shut your damn mouthes and actually think of a possible change for the better before we end up getting magical rainbow unicorn armor perms!

Lol you must have not read the books. If Reach does go by books...lol..then it WILL be more adrenaling pumping than COD will ever be. Dont change the game, adjust playa to your liking. Some ppls havent been doing their HW..

Some of you people must have the attention span of two year olds, Seriously.

Look at these and tell me Bungie needs to work on their back grounds and stuff.

The Halo games have always had some of, if not, the best back grounds and play spaces of any game ever created.

I agree with the op
cod has a more captivating ambience and feel, halo after CE seemed very very dull.

I forgot the name of the misson but it's when you come out of the bunker and into trenches to retake the capital. That enviroment, that feel of holy-blam!- was very powerful, real and epic. Honestly if a game can make me think for a good minute how screwed up the world is.. thats epic

for Halo to become the bread winner it's needs to surpass MW2
bungie might need to make halo even darker and A slap of the realism of war to the face. That will make halo great

But I know that Reach will be awesome...It's a 3 year old project, and the last of the Halo frnachise by Bungie, so I'm sure they'll put heart and soul into it.

Halo 3 did lack the kind of hectic battles seen in some war games but to say that Halo should be like MW2 is just wrong, Halo is Halo, i think in places the AI in Halo is better than the competition. Keep Halo as Halo...nuff said

Yes they need to work on their backgrounds and atmosphere. Now watch this video and tell me halo has better backgrounds and atmosphere than MW2 This is all in game footage it may not look like it but it is, any one whose played through the campaign probably recognizes just about every thing that happens.

The thing with mw2 and many other cod games is that yes it pulls you in campaign wise and there is alot going on, but this is because the game is hugely scripted. What happens, happens the same way over and over again on multitple playthrews. I find halo really shouldn't go down that path,
yes use that in certian key parts of the game for story, but i feel halo should be more roam free, exploring and a feeling of not knowing about the environment your in.

One of the reasons halo 1 was so good is that you really felt as if your in an alien environment. You had the choice to complete a level in multiple ways as well, one thing you cannot do in cod games.

I can see however where people are coming from, they want a feeling that there in the thick of a war with just alot of things going on around them. Halo reach being a huge war on reach i guess the majority of the game will be this so yes give the illusion of being in the thick of war with say odst drop pods coming down in the distance, air strikes ect , but keep the freedom of choice of being able to move around the battlefield in whatever way you see fit. Maybe have certain events that you can trigger that set off a set piece of scripted gameplay but have it so its your choice.

For example you come up to some odsts in need of a pelican pick up because of casualties. You can chose to help them fight of a set piece of waves of covys or that lesads to a scripted high intence set piece, or can simply leave them to it and go elsewhere without that set piece ever happening.

Doing somthing like that would improve replay value as well as giving a good mix of scripted events and free choice gameplay mechanics.

When it comes down to it i think bungie need to find a fine balance between scripted events and nonlinear gameplay.

Yes mw2 creates high quality set pieces but there is no choice in whats going to happen the same thing happens over and over in muliple gameplay sessions. Finding a balance to that the already set in stone halo gameplay is the key.

Im hoping for some kind of free roaming warzone with differnt missions and obejectives nitted into it that you can find on many playthrews. Any main arch in story can be mini missions that are highly scripted story driven gameplay mechanics ala mw and other cod games that lead you threw a set piece. Once finished your back on the front line helping out the unsc and seing the results of ur just completed mission.

I agree, I always wanted a real battlefield environment for Halo.
This is their last game, they should make it happen.

yes i agree with you the environments in halo needs to be improved to actually look like a real battle field. ur right, we do need to be kept on the edge of our seats in halo 2 and 3 we were simply just running from point A to point B killing aliens. basically, we were just running through the game and spraying the assault rifle. i really want halo reach to achieve the fight for your life feeling that infinity ward did with modern warfare. i think that if reach isnt good. bungie's gonna lose alot of fans. but since reach is gona be their last halo game. im sure they will do all they can to make reach the best god damn game there is.

I think its hard to see Reach story at lesat being bad, the halo reach novel is probably one of the best books of the series and they have plenty of background story to use that would make a great game. I remember after reading reach saying to my friends how it would make such a great game, the story for it was truly written so well for a game/ movie.

As far as gameplay goes i think they need to be abit more creative and inovate halo abit more. Halo 3 was playing it safe in all regards, all be it its my fav halo game but it was played too safe and if they do that again with reach i think it will suffer to much.

I cannot wait for reach i think this halo game truly needs to be great, if it does well i think it will reinvent and revitalize halo for years to come.

Looking at halo odst for exsample you can clearly see how they were testing new game mechanics. Such as a sandbox environment and having a choice what missions you want to do first. I hope they use that for reach just on a much bigger scale.
I also hope the new engine will be great , if only to stop all the whinners complaining about the graphics.

I agree, point a to b is redunant. It should have much more dynamic gameplay. The environments should feel war torn. The game itself should be darker.
