Agreed.
But just the atmosphere that MW2 gives out.
In Reach, it should be like, mountains getting blown up, not buildings.

Pelicans, Banshees and Phantoms dropping randomly from the sky in battles where they can be a hazard.

As I said before a covenant invasion is insane. Reach was probably one of the biggest and most important battles of all of Halo's history, and was bigger then the attack on Earth. The only other battle that might be bigger is the Covenant Civil War (which pretty much led to the end of the Covenant and a united army between Elites and Humans)

Anyway Reach can be crazy but I wouldnt want it to be like MW2, loved it, but not in my Halo. Plus BIG BATTLES dont BELONG to Mw2. This thread should be
"I want Reach to be deep and touching"

No.

As we can all see here folks; Meth ew over here has lost the ability to read long sentances. So in an effort to become populer he saw "MW2" and simply decided that he hates. Good job sir, your country aplaudes you.

I just hope Bungie goes all out with reach. I am kind of afraid of this failing cause me thinks bungie is getting sick of making halo.

  • 11.10.2009 10:52 PM PDT

-blam!- if reach was like mw2 it would have a crappy story line with a horrible menu and with lame ass characters

(Oh and imn ot a halo fanboy i just speak the truth)

...graphically and environmentally wise. (And a bit gameplay wise.)

As many of you know MW2 just came out and for those who have played the campaign will know what I'm talking about.

But for those who don't let me clarify. By graphically and environmentally wise I mean in a few levels of MW2 it shows citys on fire, buildings blown up, destroyed, the sky filled with helicopters, gun shots and smoke and fire and well it looks like a REAL battlefield. Most of you may have noticed that Halo shows none (if barely) any characteristics resembling a war. And you would think aliens invading earth and planets and trying to kill of the human race would be more bloodshot and darker looking then just humans against humans.

Gameplay wise - No I don't mean knifes, sprint button, or anything Call of Dutyish. I mean like I don't know...put some action into the game? Action like you have no gun and your hopelessly outnumbered running for your life and trying to escape/evade covenant squads. Something that pretty much keeps us on the edge of our seats.

tl;dr version: Make the enviroment more darker and look like a real battlefield and put some action into the game that'll keep us on the edge.

Thoughts? Comments?

(Oh and no I'm not a Call of Duty fanboy before anyones says that. I just simply thought the game was amazing due to its environment and the keep you on the edge of your seat moments and I'm hoping Bungie thinks about this to make Halo: Reach the best damn game out there.)

this COULD work, but dont make it too much of a copycat.

they should never be combined.........ever........

they're both great games, but comparing them is stupid...they are too different to be compared fairly. the only valid comparison is that they're FPS....just buy each game and play it as you will

please, please change your title.

Or else everyone isn't going to read your thread & just flame.
when it isn't fanboy at all, you just used COD's scenery as an example.

  • 11.11.2009 1:16 AM PDT

It's pretty sad that most people here can't read past the thread title...

I like the idea. I'm yet to play MW2, but Halo does need more of an atmosphere.

Been playing MW2 and Bungie could learn a few things from Infinity Ward on how to portray a War in a video game.

This is key in Reach more so than ever because Reach was an all out war and from previous experiences with the halo games, Bungie has yet to be able to pull of All out War, where MW2 does it without a hitch.

No.

Nice post D'Bag, for the OP, I completely agree Halo: Reach should have more action than any Halo game to date, I mean for Heavens sake, the planet that is home to the UNSC, ONI, and the ORION project is being glassed from everywhere...

I agree with the OP. I think a little more scenery like that could help Reach. ANd the fanboys in this thread need to shut up.

Bungie has to start banning threads that have anything to do with MW2...when i play Halo:Reach i wanna play Halo:Reack not CoD MW2,if i wanna play mw2,ill play mw2.if i wanna play halo, ill play halo.i dont want them mixed, neither do most of the community.see where im coming from?go home and stop trolling

How in anyway am I trolling!? Please tell me? I am simply suggesting a couple of ideas that would be great for Halo.

PLEASE GET PAST YOUR FANBOYISM!

How 'bout you get past your CoD Fanboyism and let Halo be Halo and not CoD Halo..

COD Fanboyism? I love Halo but there are a lot of things Halo and Bungie just have not been able to pull off. Things that Infinity Ward has consistently done brilliantly in their Call of Duty games, particularly MW2, which is absolutely outstanding and...

It shows a War.

We were fighting in Halo 3 a war for our very survival and it barely felt like one.

Things like that, like what the OP is suggesting, should they make it into Halo, will only make it better.

I came into this thread expecting to read about some bastard child of Halo and COD, but this creation sounds beautiful.

I'm not a fan of the COD games, but the environment in MW2 pulled me in. I would love to have the same thing with Halo's art.
Now if we just had Halo's story, and another 5-6 hours of campiagn... It would be perfect.

Oh btw That happens in Halo 3 if you look properly... When you get to The Ark and even in The Storm... you see hornets and banshee's etc...
Not flaming anyone but they are already there...
Would love the hear some chatter...like some human when shot down: MAYDAY I"M GOING DOWN...ARGHH! poof static.. and just Battle net chatter when an air strike takes place: Bring down the rain boys!= BLAM gone covies... would add alot more atmosphere to the game.
EDIT: People screaming when an elite/brute rips/stabs/shoots them executioner style and hearing the covie in question shouting over the comm...

good god, this thread is a prime example of how little people actually read the original post.

i agree, there should be more stuff happening around you, the environment should be more active with destruction. it should look like a war. basically take the highway level from ODST and add tons of marines and covenant fighting.

i don't want the game to become a scripted mess, with only one way to play though.

  • 11.11.2009 6:00 AM PDT

Why do people immediatly go into defense mode when CoD is mentioned. The OP just mentioned Reach should have some of the atmosphere and feeling MW2 has. And I agree.

I mean, the end of ODST where all the Covenant cruisers come in, the fleets of Banshees constantly flying overhead and the big warship glassing the city...that made it feel like the fight was bigger than just you. That's what Reach should have constantly. I mean, seeing airial fights, having Longswords soaring through the skies, Covenant Cruisers using their excavation beams, nukes and other big explosions in the distance. Buildings blowing up, maybe even seeing big battles on ground in places where you can't come. It just gives you the sense that you're in a much bigger fight.
Some other examples from the Halo games that show how it could be done:
- The drop in the droppod (ODST)
- The Covenant cruiser entering orbit overhead on Tsavo Highway (Halo 3)
- the feel of the High Charity level (Halo 2)
- The Maw, -blam!- blowing up all over the place (Halo CE)

Some more explosive and intense actions is more than welcome, and no that would NOT make it like CoD.
