Pretty strong statement if you ask me...Do you agree, and will this concept be implemented into halo's final conclusion (reach) somehow? Please elaborate.

The Last Fighter

Ahhh...a famous quote by the Chief.

I agree with this but i don't Spartans if this was addressed to them kinda. Reason for it is because even though there super soldiers and they have high expectancy to live up to. They are still human and things come in the way. Example, Master Chief on Halo, Delta halo, and the Ark. He wasn't given direct orders to do what had to be done he did it for what was good. In all those situations he acted for the better of humanity and not to live up to " No soldier should be... expected", he did it knowing he may not make it. I personally thing soldiers have a bar of what they should do and whats to be honored.

I wouldn't consider this the "final" conclusion when its a prequel.

Well I think that that statement might make some people mad, however I do agree with it for the most part.

Kind of like with honor students, they are doing what they are expected to do, get A's, why honor them?

However, I think a soldier should be honored when he goes beyond what he is told, and does more than is expected.

The quote comes from this ad for Halo 3

I don't think the point of this quote is in it's right and wrongness, but how it shows how everyone depended on the Spartans, MC especially. I mean when you think about the events of Halo, humanity was pretty screwed; they didn't just need someone to save them, they needed someone to believe in.

"No soldier should be honored for doing what is expected and no soldier should be honored for doing what is sexy"
