Halo Reach has the potential to be an FPS RPG. With all the different armour permutations, they could be given different advantages/ disadvantages, upgrades etc.

Maybe bungie could think up sum prototype amour that never made it out of Reach.

Any thoughts?

This has already been discussed. Nobody wanted Reach to be and FPS RPG, however several said maybe later on in time...

it could... but we have no reason to think so. because most halo players dont want it to change. bungie wont do something totally different for their last game, theyl just improve what they had

Granted, but how fair is it to have enhanced melee damage becuase of shoulder armour, or super speed with a certain helmet, or perhaps you'd like a body piece to give you infinite ammo? That is why Reach is better off as just and FPS.

OBVIOUSLY for campaign and multiplayer gameplay, there would have to be some balancing mechanics involved. It's ridiculous idea to have infinite ammo because of an armour upgrade.

It's common sense, if for example you could upgrade your armour it would affect things light, damage reduction, weight, hit points, shield etc.

I'm one with the warrior inside. The evidence can't be denied. The entire world will stare. Into this battlefield tonight. As I stand before you with a warrior's heart now. I can feel the strength that will Ensure my victory this time

Reach will NOT be a FPS RPG. Bungie has already confirmed that it will be a FPS, nothing more. Also, I wouldn't mind the different abilities for different perms, but it would unbalance the game. Just like the "leaked" new Covie weapon.

So you basically want an indestructable player with overshields that can pick you up and knock you out of the map with a single flick of the fingers?

I would like the different armors to give different effects, but only small ones like increasing your speed by 5% or increasing your armor by 5%.

Well that's perfectly acceptable.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

Changes that are that small are negligible in terms of gameplay, rendering the change pointless from the get go. If they were to do something like this it would have to serve a purpose of some sort. Unless the effect is stackable, i.e. different parts of the same armor type give the same buff, then changes this small are a wast of effort.

Regardless of how it is handled, if something like this is implimented it should be for campaign only. I can easilly see something like this becomming a huge problem in MP.

I think he means 5% per armour piece of that kind, like all pieces then give you 20% of the effect.
