I love the old maps, but that's part of the problem with them appearing in reach; they're old. Every Halo game plays different; varying weapons, weapon/shield strength, player speed, the physics, etc. It'd be nice to see old maps return, but I don't want Bungie to sacrifice more time than they should to change a map (editing its original proportions and possibly losing what made it great) if they could make a great new map in half the time.what do you mean it's quicker to port a map, or even build an old map from scratch than it is to make a new map.
But your missing what he is saying, you cannot simply cut and paste due to the rather large changes in gameplay from game to game, you need to make changes. The changes can hurt the gameplay on that map (as is evident w/Blackout) and you end up pissing a lot of people off.
I personally would rather not see any remakes, and have everything be entirely new and unique to Reach. Of course your going to have maps that are entirely similar to eachother, but I don't think remakes are worth the effort. What do you take me for a moron! of course I understand that, but like I said I disagree that it takes longer to redo an old map. lastly, if they wouldn't have -blam!- with the hallway, removed the library window and took out the monkey jumps (that one is debatable) Blackout would have been kick ass.
Again, your griping about things that may have been fixed for necessary reasons involving gameplay changes. While I wouldn't assume whether or not one was a moron, you still seem to be missing the point on the necessity of some changes, and the inherent issue that comes with them. People gripe when what is given to them doesn't match their memory of what they wanted, plain and simple.
In regards to the time taken on a map, that is entirely debatable from different perspectives. Being as maps are as much art/polish as they are an arrangement of geometrical shaps and details, it's hard to say what would take longer in a general perspective. It may be easy to port in the structures, but the breakdown of detail, the planning for the art design, the application of said planning, and the tweaking to the geometry to ensure the map plays well in the new game, is not by any means a fast process. I was thinking developement. developement, sketches, plotting all the non-physical (that's not to say intangable or manual labor) work. please though stop acting all supreme and like I dont understand the need for changes to account for jump height, character model size and new weapons. because of course I understand that, but like I said I disagree that it takes longer to redo an old map. and that is all I was commenting on about the OP! now stop being such a bother.
