Subject: Whats the big deal about driving a pelican?

Seriously get Halo custom edition. you can drive pelis on that, and It isn't that amazing, and is really difficult to drive. I could understand seating co-piolit would be nice. (Just look at the level The ark)

Flying a pelican would feel great. It's like flying a pelican but with more control. It's like delivering stuff... it's really hard to understand for some.
[They would need to use diffrent controls from the halo custom edition]

Reachhhhhhhh

All the noobs want to drive pelicans, when that in itself would take so much time and would take away from what actually matters like gameplay and campaign. Driving a Pelican is completely pointless and yet the noobs continue to demand it.

It just gives a new element to the game. Using a Pelican on a giant map as a transport ship in multiplayer would be intense.

Proud frenchie, elite fan, anthro artist not hellbent on yiff convention/pics/whatever, mature and intelligent forum guy, 4chaner, halo 2 lover and halo 3 hater.

it sucks.

people think "omg lol HUUUUEG PLAENNNNNE" and they go apecrap.
but what they don't know is all the problems that'd come with pelicans.

-you'd need maps at least 4 times bigger than sandtraps to have a use for them.
-difficult balancing.
-if one idiot steals the pelican and flies away without anybody going in the back seats, then you're scrwd. you're good to walk aaaaaaaaall the way to the enemy base on foot, avoiding enemy fire, hazards, snipers and vehicles.
-etc.

Really not...
Flying a pelican is like... flying epicness... Could you imagine loading your pelican with your guys, and having an escort, then you go to the entrance of roof of the enemy base and just drop your guys off? After that just pick them up and returning to your base to drop off the flag? And then imagine banshees coming to get you, your escort tries to kill them while you try to avoid getting shot?

Just call me Najar.

If the multiplayer for reach incluyed really big teams, (like 16 vs 16 and things like that) and you could use the pelican, you could drop allies in the battle with the pelican, it would be SO awesome, to bad its probably never going to happen. :(

Yes it would require massive massive maps and much bigger teams (which I am totally up for)..... It would be awesome, flying the pelican through AA fire, dropping off a squad of Spartans and Elites and maybe a Warthog for them to use. Support fire. Weapon drops.

I think it would be great.

Imagine pulling a Miranda Keyes style rescue... Without the getting killed part.

i totally agree with the above comment.pelican is a big support vehicle that unloads supplies personnel etc.would be epic to fly one

All great in theory until you remember that the current xbl infastructure barely handles games of current scale. I'd love some huge scenario gameplay, but xbl isn't the place for it sadly. At least not the current xbl.

Of course i'm speaking in terms of MP. In campaign there would be no harm in this. At least not any I can see.

Big Team Battle Multiflag/Slayer on Standoff/Valhalla/Sandtrap/Avalanche = Win

The hornet is the answer to your pelican needs. I seriously doubt you'd really need to carry 8 people anywhere anyways. Thats a killionaire just waiting to happen.

if in bf bad company there will be black hawks why cant halo have pelicans , a biger scale war wouldnt hurt halo

As someone stated above, if some pleb on your team decided to commandeer the vehicle, you're pretty much screwed. However, how about having them in Customs only? It would remove the pleb-risk, and mean that there is no need to balance for fair play in Matchmaking.

Also: if we get Pelicans, I know what I'm going to be doing every single game. All I do is ferry people to and fro across the battlefield; take ArmA 2 for instance. I'm a respected pilot in one of the major clans that hosts regular matches. Support helicopters, and LGB (light ground bombing) jets are my specialty. I love flying over a target area in an LGB, calling to everyone to keep clear of the attack zone, and then blitzing the towns below.

It's all a freaking blast - literally, and figuratively.

Unless that Pelican is loaded with Playboy models, keep it out of Reach.

No, Valhalla is smaller than Sandtrap and there is a crashed pelican on there. So wouldn't need one. People that say that you need a huuuuge map must really think about it.
