I'm trying to forward the ports on my router that halo uses... Which ones does it use?

by default, halo uses port 2302 for hosting. It is not recommended to use port forwarding for halo, so turn it off if you can.

This is semi on-topic..but.. I have a D-Link DI-604 router with two computers hooked up to it. I opened ALL the port ranges I can find for Halo on my router, opened them on Windows Firewall, and disabled Norton Anti-Virus. My problem is... no one can see when I host a game on either computer, regular or a dedicated server, so I would assume its definitely the router. No one can even use Direct IP to join my game. It is very frustrating because today when i unplugged my modem completely and my router completely, restarted both computers (without ethernet cables in,) and then put everything back, I opened up Halo and clicked on my dedicated server. I browsed all the games and much to my suprise I could see my dedicated server for once. So I made a game and in an instant people joined! After that I exited Halo..and opened it up no more than five minutes later. I made a game and no one could join or see it. I have been having this problem for so long.

I have tried restarting, re-installing, the whole works.

Edit - I also tried changing the ports that I use for Halo and turning on the DMZ , but to no avail.

If you could help me I'd appreciate it a lot.
Thanks,
MetalGuitar08

the problem here is simply the router, more than 90% of the ppl that have a di-604 have trouble opening ports, the 10 % of ppl that can either get lucky, or get advanced non d-link tech support. my suggestion is to just get a linksys cable/dsl router. i made the switch a month back and believe me when i say, it works amazingly well compared to the 3 di-604's which i have had (bought one, returned it, got another, tech support sent a replacement...none worked!!!)linksys is a bit more expensive, but very effective
