In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

They are artificial life-forms made up of incredible small nano-machines. So while they look like organic beings, the engineers are not. This being to case, they were able to survive the Halo array firing.

Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

The rings kill any lifeform that has sufficient bio mass to support the Flood. Given the composition of Engineers, and that they are full of gases more than really anything else, I would say they are not considered suitable food for the Flood, thus rendering them unharmed by the rings.

Think of it this way: Instead of cells like organic beings, Engineers have nano-machines, artificial cells. They are machines, nothing more, nothing less.

If this is the state of my art, then I secede.

i thought they were organic beings but the forerunners mixed them with technology. so technically parts of the engineers are still organic. like the bladder

They're essentially a skin with gasses inside. That's it. So the Flood can't infect it. And yes, BLADDERS!

Fixed.
Edit: No one else post in here. The guy has a hard on for bladders. There's no way of reasoning with his fetish.

im one second from taking this to the next level.

Sufficient biomass =/= Room. Sure the Flood has ROOM in the Engineer, but they need more. They need the necessary amount calcium stores, muscle mass, as well as a suitable neural system to control. EG, a spinal column. And even if they could, the Engineers knowledge is stored in the machine part of them. So even if they could become a host, they would offer no benefit.

wrong, they are completely artificial. Huragok have no true tissue or organs and don't have some type of "machine part" they are a living artificial supercomputer.

  • 11.12.2009 11:01 AM PDT

Alright, added to my organic supercomputer "Huragok=Completely machine".

i didn't use the word machine ether. just a race that was formed in a lab than naturally evolving.
