Subject: A possibility for Reach.

If you were using an EVA suit to propel you it could work. It would require a temporary controls tweak though.

But think: Master Chief enters a Covenant ship with sabotage equiptment. He Disables the gravity simulators and thereby causes a Zero-G situation. If he shuts down the life support system, he has roughly 90 minutes to escape. As he fights through waves of covenant he comes to a point where he must jump (That's right, jump) back onboard a UNSC ship, as it tears the Covies into bits with it's MAC gun (Thank you TartanSpartan117!) In first person mode, of course, what fun is a cutscene?

If the UNSC ship was the Pillar of Autumn, it could be the final level. It would make sense, as MC escapes Reach onboard the Autumn. And Bungie have always loved the whole exodus/escape finale for their games.

Wait, when did I ever say anything about a cut scene?

You didn't. I was just telling you what some of us might want to see. I've talked to several friends of mine, and they all agree with the Zero-G concept being developed in this thread, and some even suggested achievements related to the Zero-G idea. The best one was probably "In Your Face!" -50G-: Kill an enemy with a headshot whilst they (and you) are still in mid air after performing a jump.

Subject: Zero-Gravity and vacuum combat in Reach.

It sounds like a good idea, just so long as an atmosphere is involved, like on a disabled cruiser or something. Outside, in the vacuum, projectile weapons would not work, since the extreme temperatures would make any lubricants on the parts ineffective, and the gun would seize up after only a few shots.

Unless of course, it being the future, infantry rifles are designed with this in mind.

It still might be a fun thing to try, possibly even having a multiplayer map in zero G.

If you have played Halo 2 you might remember the part of the first mission when you leave the ship's interior. All the weapons worked there, so they are probably designed with space combat in mind.

Seeing as they are designed like that, it makes you wonder why there is no Zero-G combat in the first place...

Yes please! For the first level, since it could take place in space.
