Lest you forget, Halo 3 sold 8 million copies overall, across just one platform. Modern Warfare 2 is for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
Are you stupid or something?
First off total sales for H3 are over 10 million now.
first week sales were 3.81 million.*facepalm* that's what I get for reading Wikipedia. I think it's in the vicinity of 15 million, isn't it? Anyway...
MW2 a multi platform game outsold H3 on the 360 day 1 what took a week for H3 to do.
If you fail to see the embarrassment of H3 a single console Launch title series being outsold on the 360 by a PC port over multi platformer game you should stay in school.Modern Warfare 2 had a huge fanbase behind it. The majority of gamers are going to buy it. Not everyone is a fan of shooting colourful aliens in the face, which is why lots of people like war-based FPS games. MW2 is the real FPS this year.
Disregarding that: when did Halo 3 come out? 2007. How many people had Xbox 360s then? Not as many as do now.
More gamers, means more to buy it. I reckon if Halo 3 had been released now, it would have done just as well. Reach, maybe not so, seeing as there are already 4 other Halo FPSs already.
There are people in my school now, who two years ago said Xboxs were for nerds. Now, everyone has one.
Edit: LegendaryFluffy beat me to it, but I didn't notice.
=P
Edit 2: Also - Halo 3 came out over the week, depending on the location. MW2 was a worldwide release.
