Well, shielding systems weren't introduced to Mark V armour until August 29, 2552; That's about 2 or 3 days before reach was glassed so depending on whether this will be about the attack against Reach or the events leading up to the attack on Reach will determine the health system. Knowing bungie they like to compact everything into a short time period, but that's easily understandable because they want the story to be easy to follow. But on the main topic I disagree with you. I have done some research and have found that the your health playing as an ODST is almost the exact same as a spartan, but yet people proclaim the ODST has less health. Bottom line: Shields were an excelent idea and it doesn't take away any positive aspect of future warfare.

The reason it worked so well was sheild simply aloud you to have a legit firefight. Not the now where you eat bullets without end.

Simple solution. Increase kill speed. That is what make HCE/HALO period amazing. People are slowly realizing what bungie did that has ruined that.
Simply having someone run away endlessly is just frustrating.
HCE heath/sheild system needs to come back unchanged. Along with faster kill speed.

I can agree with this for multiplayer and especially campaign. I hate how half of the weapons are ineffective except at point blank range in laggy matches (which tends to be most matches for me). I say especially campaign because many weapons just suck in higher difficulties in campaign. The AR is has trouble taking down more than one enemy at once and the shotgun is next to worthless because you have to be so close to an enemy that a melee would generally work just as well. Also, you are almost required to use a plasma-headshot combination to get through a level on heroic/legendary in any reasonable amount of time.

ya, but that is not how halo is. halo has always been like this. this is why ot is not one of the best, but we love it the way it is. i hope the heath system is the same in reach as it was in 3...
