Sword and Scales has a permanent +10 intelligence aura that has a 1 page range.

This is -blam!- ridiculous. It's pronounce "REECH." God, this has to be the single most retarded thread on these forums. Seriously, stop trying to reinvent the wheel.

you fail at life look at the first gameplay video of halo 3 odst (e3 09) at the end he says and i goute "it will come with an invitation to the halo reaCH beta" he clearly says REE-CH

Let's not get caught up in technicalities here. Perhaps he is mispronouncing it, or had something wrong with his mouth, such as the lockjaw condition caused by the tetanus. Who are we to decide what people so far ahead of us in technology and science have changed in the English language? Which brings up another important question:

Will this game even be in English?

Well I hope it is Reech and not Reeeeeek.

Does anybody actually just realise what's happened here?
A Bungie Employee has finally posted in the Reach Forum. The time for Reach info is near!

  • 11.14.2009 2:53 AM PDT

REACH is said normally, buy odst then turn the volume up to hear many referrals to it

Indeed, I consider myself quite the Halo Historian.

P.S. Did you know Earth is pronounced Weezel?

Sorry guys but this has to be done! how to do pronounce schedule?
is it sked-du-al or shed-du-al?

  • 11.14.2009 4:33 AM PDT

Cortana or Captain Keyes also pronounces it "Reach" (like Buck) in the opening cutscene of Halo 1.

I think the German pronunciation would be preferable above all others.

Was Cortana born on Reach?
Was Captain Keyes stationed on Reach for a large portion of his life?

I think not. They clearly have no authority on the subject and were just pretending to be smart about a subject they know nothing about in front of the Master Chief.

Well this part on its own is very easy to answer.

Cortana is an artificial being, meaning that things out of her power can tamper with her. Most likely, what happened was that Cortana got some malicious code stuck in her, and because of that she had something like a virus which caused her to start mispronouncing words. We can't really ever confirm that anything Cortana says is true due to the nature of her construction.

As for Captain Keyes, when we first meet the man he's been on a ship for who knows how long, and had just endured an intense slip space jump when the Chief first talks to him. It's widely known that slip space jumps can often cause a short loss of mental agility. It's very likely that when he pronounced "Reach" he may have reverted to a childhood memory. A memory in which he was sharply reprimanded by his Russian teacher for mispronouncing the name of the motherland.

Do I need to remind you that a proximity mine in Halo 3: Beta would destroy a vehicle and the very same piece of equipment is not nearly as powerful in the final version?

DO I NEED TO REMIND YOU that Halo 3: ODST was once called Halo 3: Recon?

Things change my friend. Things change. We won't truly know how Halo: Reach is pronounced until it's sitting in our basements.

OMG dude! Joseph Staten pronounced! it's REACH, shiska (another Bungie member) posted you again Joseph Staten pronouncing the word Reach, it sounds as you read it R E A C H!

Are you retarded or what?

In ODST, buck pronounces it, "reech".

That's what I was thinking, too.

It's possible, but you should keep an open mind about these things. Look, even you spell it out as an acronym "R E A C H". How can you say so certainly how it is pronounced when your very own subconscious is saying something entirely different?

  • 11.14.2009 9:41 AM PDT

Funny thread. Invalid point though.

-Buck pronounces it "Reech" in ODST.

-Lord Hood pronounces it "Reech" in Halo 2.

-Cortana pronounces it "Reech in Halo 1.

-Joeseph Staten pronounced it "Reech" when it was announced.

As far as I know none of these characters are German. I demand to be proven wrong by photoshop'd pics!
