Subject: What a horrible update

I used to get on these forums back in the Halo 1, anticipating Halo 2 days...I'm back :)

Just don't hope too much when you're sitting there spamming F5 on Christmas Eve.

I liked this part :)

I make a legitimate thread on the most logical choice for the next Bond actor, and you take that away from me by creating a parody thread indirectly connecting my thread to yours.

I hope your kids have bad influences and develop bad personalities. I wish this with all my heart.

Simply put, Bungie wants to officially release the info right. Like Hylebos said, it's a matter of boosting ODST sales, but it goes a bit deeper than that.

Think about it: if the screenshots are fake, and Bungie dismisses them openly, there would be many unhappy fans who were pleased with what they saw. If there's one thing you don't do as a developer of a blockbuster game, it's showing people what you're doing and then showing them what you could have done instead.

And if they're true? The forums will flood. The dam walls will collapse. Bungie's servers will overheat and explode. All hell will break loose. There'll be people angry that Bungie didn't listen to them, people overjoyed about the new changes, and people in between that keep telling everybody to shut up but just keep raising up the topic.

So Bungie just keeps their no-longer-so-happy mouths shut....for now.

they could easily be CE mods.

Please explain how such pics could be faked? The pause menu with the AR in the BG especially?

CE's light doesn't react that way. Even the untrained eye can see that. Look at the shadow under the spartan in the rocket launcher picture. Even with the blur you can tell they're stencil shadows, something CE doesn't have.

There is nothing wrong with Halo:Reach. We all just have our gripes about everything we don't like. Not liking something doesn't make it broken.

When you run the program through a Professional Editing program, it is possible to see the cracks were the image was changed and edited to add things and blurs were things were changed.

I have a freind, whom I trust, who says his Uncle's editing software found such changes in the picture. I happen to know his uncle is a photographer too, since I have one of his works on the wall above my computer.

If his little computer gadget says that it was tampered with, well, even if only small changes were made, we aren't really seeing the truth now are we?

They don't have any obligation to write the weekly update, be glad you even get one - no matter how little stuff is in there.

This.

seriously the update didn't say anything at all. I would prefer nothing to an update ignoring the elephant in the room.

That update was as starved as it gets.
It's their tradition to have updates. Just that sometimes there isn't enough that they can talk about to fill the pages. Why do you think they have the Blame Stosh section? If there isn't news then there isn't news.

As for those who want to see it before it's finished, that's why they call it a beta. Bungie could go on about how the progress is coming, but the only want to give us official information. The design process takes many different turns before completion. You'll end up constantly criticizing the dev team's decisions based on your own opinions. Then they will have to spend their time expaining to the fan base why they decided against said feature or why they included this instead. Many times the reasons are too technical. In the end you will end up more disappointed by the outcome or direction the development is taking.

When you are making something you shoot for the sky. Saying one thing and not coming through with it, is worse than never telling you about it in the first place.

Urk can't, it's as simple as that. You think he's going to break company policy and lose his job just to tell us if some pictures are real?

  • 11.13.2009 9:55 PM PDT

the only reason they put this thread up is for the hype. the game isn't really ready to be shown off yet, in any way, shape, or form. bungie out up the "mysterious trailer" in e3 to get everyone exicted and wanting more. all this is so bungie can milk every last penny out of the game, of course there's no doubt in my mind it's going to be a great game

Modern Warfare 2 didnt release their first gameplay video til E3 and the game came out 3 days ago! Bungie likes to keep stuff away from the public, which I dont like.
