Subject: Different melee combos for elites?

I was looking at some of the old videos and newer ones, and i was observing the multiplayer shots in particular. I am a person who melees alot in halo 1, so i especially payed alot of attention to that. One thing i noticed is the comparison anitomically between a Spartan and Elite. Since elites are bigger and lankier, they should be holding things differently.

Then i looked at some screenshots, and noticed they do. look at the pic of an Elite holding the Battle Rifle in this picture here . Here is a pic of Spartan holding a Battle Rifle here . They hold them differently, as you can see. Now, think holw they would use them.

Bungie, becuase they seem to be paying so much attention to detail in halo 2, will probably give them separate melee combos. The reason for this is that it might look really awkward if they both had the same combos, becuase they are different creatures and are different sizes and such.

Here is my proof. When wert is using the plasma sword in this video, he does and upward slash in his melee combo (here is the link). in this video, when the person talking is using the plasma sword, he does a different melee combo using a spartan. (here is the link). Am i right or am i seeing things. Elites seem to be doing different melee combos. I'm sure that they are done at the same speed and area of damage, but they just look different.

And, will melees be powered down? If you look how fast the combo is in the e3 2003 video, its fast enough to kill a spartan in 2 seconds. I believe it will be.

My my next question. Will AI controlled elites use melee combo's in Single Player?

Someone who've played halo 2 at e3 told me that there were no difference between the elite and spartan. Maybe different in the final version???

Holy crap on a stick! Something I haven't seen a thousand times (Been reading forums since late May), interesting, and makes good points. You deserve an award.

Well, I think that you might be right. It would actually make a difference between them.

When you press R you do the lunge, but this is about the B button meleeing.

My next question. Will AI controlled elites use melee combo's in Single Player?

It's been confirmed in the August Xbox Gamer magazine that they will. They'll also have a 'Flying Kick' aswell!! I promise I'm not lying, I don't have a link either. I'll check HBO press scans now and post it here if t's there. If not, believe me it's true.

well, in regards to powered down melees, you have to consider that in the e303 demo, the brutes were pretty much just grunts in brute skins. if you were actually playing a brute, i'm sure that you wouldn't be able to take him out in just a few melees.

the reason it looks different when the spartans hold the guns is because in the e3 04 demo it was a split screen part, and it looks different, how you hold guns, when its in split screen. bungie wouldnt make it unbalanced by doing sumthing like different combos, and the elites are the same size as the spartans in halo 2

First, there weren't split screens at e3. One tv, One player.

Second, the only thing that looks different in split screen is the HUD because there's less space. Do you think they hold their guns with their feet in split screen or what??

Who said anything about unbalanced? Different animations for elites and spartans is a must. The combos will be the same, they'll just look different.

I heard that too, and i believe hat since the spartans and elites are identical, the spartans should have a flying jump kick thing too!

I think I can settle this flying kick thing

the guy probly said that before E3 2004 but the kick he was talking about is the kick that elites and spartians do when they board a gost.
