How many players do you think Bungie can get into multiplayer without causing major problems like lag? If you have any ideas for how to get it to work like dedicated servers and such feel free to share.

I say around 16, if to goes to high there would be to much chaos. Halo is fast paced if you increase the amount to much, it becomes a frenzy of a cluster****ing grenades and walls of bullets. Basically the player who were to win whould be the luckest rather than the most skilled.

Thnx for the awesome sig Smyf!

and now it is my duty to completely drain you

If it goes above 16 players it will no longer be halo. If they upped it, might as well remove shields and add a class system.

How would upping the players change Halo? I mean if they can do it without lag and balance it then it would be fine right?

Look! A distraction!

More players = bullet spam.

Bullet spam only works when you can actually *dodge* them. Projectiles from any non-explosive human weapon travel much too fast for this to be effective. There also comes a time when there are too many players for either team to effectively do anything apart from Slayer.

Plus, there's already enough trouble with campers. If you add more players and then someone's team bails because they don't like the map, it'd just mean even more slaughter.

No, it would not, I agree with you that it will not change halo. But you have to admit with the weapons it would to much chaos and be unfair bcause if you lucky and see a bunch of ppl you cluster**** them while they all fight and win out of scavanaging kills

I'm sure Bungie couldn't handle balancing a game with more than 16 players, but I would love to see 12v12 big team battles, or 16v16.

I think it would be sweet if they stuck a couple maps in there that you could have like a 32 player battle on, maps like an extended version of blood glutch or completely new maps

(1)the only way to escape death is death itself.
(2) pwn the world bungie
(3) never give in to BS, your always going good in your own way.

I say that sertain games with a larger multiplayer makes the game more fun, espeacailly if it's something with vichaels. Halo, this will be perfect because we are spartans we can do most anything we want to do in the form of kicking ass. Also it will make more possibilities, like an all new form of assault. Get this, for one side assault, we get to storm into a base plant the bomb and we have a limited amount of time to get the hell out of there before the place really goes to hell. I mean not a mini explosion where who ever is close enough to the bomb dies. No, the entire base just gets demolished. I am talking about a HUGE base that have a level or 2 under ground. The entire place would look like what you would imagine the gates of hell.

lol 40 plus, I dont think the engine could handle that.
Plus there'd be crazy lag

I think they might be working on a new engine for halo reach instead of using the ever so popular unreal engine

either way 8v8 was fun, but we can't always keep things the same in new games. We have to explore new ground and see how we can live with the changes. It will be great if i can go up against 15 soldiers and kick all of their asses

  • 11.14.2009 1:04 AM PDT

om nom nom

The Halo series has always been pretty laggy with 8v8. It would only get worse with more.

  • 11.14.2009 1:19 AM PDT

I think this would only work IF they made maps at LEAST twice the size of sandtrap, then it would be more spaced out and not as much chaos. though I doubt the console would handle it,
Alot of RAM/Processing saving techniques would have to be incorporated kinda like the Nintendo DS.
Other than that, whos With ME???

  • 11.14.2009 2:04 AM PDT

Its a trap!!!

Well if they made it more then 8v8 then the maps would have to be pretty large. I want maps that work for 4v4 as well as 8v8.

I dont want the gap to be as big. I dont want them to get too big where they only work for 16v16

unless bungie would release many maps for the game

then hopefully if they has a 32 player game it wouldn't lag. But they seem to have a problem with 8v8 a lot of times

where is "20" ?

40+players=lack

This depends entirely on the scale of the multiplayer maps. We'd also need dedicated servers to play beyond sixteen well.

  • 11.14.2009 7:30 AM PDT

No, I don't want to join your group/clan/team/community.

Im gonna say 24 because this will be fun and not affect lag too much.

  • 11.14.2009 7:33 AM PDT

16 to much laggers

I remember playing Waterworks in H2 and that map was huge. The problem there wasn't too many contacts, it was more a lack of them. But the feel of the game was a lot different. When you get on such large maps with so many people, it becomes a lot less about control and strategies, from what I've seen, anyway. When I'm in a 4v4 map, I have to communicate like crazy. In squad and BTB, I find myself just doing my own thing and coming out with a substantial amount of kills. I think the large numbers may do well with objective, as those were great on Waterworks, but slayer sucks.
