Someone had the idea of having an "antique" weapon easter egg in Reach, like you can find a M-16 or AK-47 in the campaign. I wouldn't mind that as long as they aren't in multiplayer.

The AK should be in a glass case in a museum on Reach, where a mission takes place of course, break the glass, grab your gun and your good to go.

Who the -blam!- keeps a loaded gun inside a museum?

Every curator I know does...

600 year old weapon in Halo? Perhaps something based off of it?

Who is this retard?
The AK-47 is a big pile of s**t!
you know how f***ing unreliable they are in real combat?
No, because you obviously have no actual f***ing experience with guns.

AK's fall to pieces like the s**t they are.
That's why most terrorists use them. They're f***ing cheap. Both financially and physically.

I have -blam!- experience with guns, and I can tell you that the AK-47 can keep you alive no matter what happens to it.

halo is fiction. therefore the AK has no place in the halo universe. there may be a resembalance to an AK but no. no AKs.

modern warfare is realistic fiction. so is mw2. its not only based on actual events and guns, its called MODERN warfare for a reason. everything in mw and mw2 COULD happen or HAS happened

Best gun of all time you dipstick.

It's the most reliable gun in the world, it's as numerous as hell thanks to the commies in Russia, who gave them to the Iraqies, and Arabians because they as well hate America.

The mussel velocity is amazing, recoil isn't too high, and it has a high clip capaciy...

Here, Avtomat Kalashnikova 1947 it maybe Wiki, but it hasn't been tempered with and is truly a reliable site, I checked the citations...
the only reason they have so many of them in use all over is because they are cheap to make and easy to mass produce, not because they are a good weapon. the ak doesn't belong in halo. if you want one, please play call of duty.

Using an AK-47 during the 26th century would be like using an 14th century musket today. I think the Spartans would still prefer their MA5B's even tough there'd be any AK's left (why would they bring them on Reach anyway).

Think about your ideas before posting them on forums: You get laughed less at...

Actually the AK is extremely unreliable, the weapon's range is limited, and the clip is average. The trade off is maintenance. It is easily cleaned and fixed after the problems arise. In the future I doubt that they would waste their time with an antiquated piece of garbage like an AK.

The AK is an extremely reliable firearm that has withstood the test of time time. It's as popular as it was sixty years ago. I think it should be in Halo Reach. I know it would be antiquated by Halo's timeline, but who really cares? The AK-47 would be an excellent midrange weapon with a lot of firepower.

It wouldn't be antiquated. An AK would be fraking artifact! You know, like a 14th century copy of the Bible or a Napoleonic cavalry saber.

  • 11.14.2009 12:50 PM PDT

500 years in the future? That's just idiotic. The Musket was reliable and 300 years in the future it's gone bye bye.

  • 11.14.2009 1:08 PM PDT

The Oblivious Murderer

Defiantly not. That is what the AR is for to have a short to mid range rifle. Just because you like the AK doesn't mean it should be put into a game that takes place over 500 years into the future from when the gun was actually made.

but humanity is obviously stuck in a technological rut if it's still reliant on conventional ballistic firearms. AK-47 would be more viable than you'd think, it wouldn't be like a musket today.

It is funny to watch all the so called 'patriots' that claim that the AK-47 is unreliable.

In Vietnam, the Vietcong would refuse to pick up M16 for the AK.

The AK was built in 1947, and is still better than most weapons today. It's only real flaw is the lack of accuracy, which can be fixed by replacing the materials, and fixing the ejection port.

Honestly, I would rather fight with an AK-47 over the AR.

  • 11.14.2009 1:33 PM PDT

Sometimes you just gotta eat a sandwich.
Its good for the soul.

Ok, the AK 47 is a reliable weapon only for its barrel being slightly bigger than the bullet diameter. Basically, they intentionally sacrificed accuracy for the near guarantee of not jamming.
In Halo games, guns do not jam, so you'd be stuck with a gun hundreds of years past its due date, not fitting into the story line, being ridiculously inaccurate.
Should bungie place this gun into a futuristic game?
No.

Punch a bear in the face.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

Yes, the AK-47 has been popular for the last 62 years, but I think 605 years of service sounds too extreme.

Hell, I don't even think Insurrections would use a 600 year old design for a gun now that humanity is using weapons designed for space combat.
