(1)the only way to escape death is death itself.
(2) pwn the world bungie
(3) never give in to BS, your always going good in your own way.

actually no the ak 47 is a very powerful weapon, it is a reliable rifle. You can even google or youtube some videos about the ak 47. Yes, it doesn't have the range of some other rifles, but it is very powerful thanks to the bullets it has.

4 europeans, an american and a japanese person in a game

I was totally expecting a joke out of that.

Why?

It has a smaller clip than the AR, is less accurate, is just as reliable (the AR is said to have been beat on, and trudged through swamp water, and still work).

The AK probably wouldn't even be able to penetrate an Elites armor.

Actually, Russia didn't give the guns to Iraqies and Arabians, infact USA sold Iraq military weapons, which they are using on you right now.

... which has nothing to do with the topic at hand...

Peace through superior firepower.

Most guns are that reliable. Just that much of the population is too incompetent.

Some weapons are sold by the US to the Middle East, yes. But Russia also contributed, too.

Actually, most of that statement is correct, but Russia has also supplied Iraqis. We did sell them weapons back in the 80s I believe, and many of them are still being used against us by the insurgents. But the Iraqi Army is on our side. We fight a guerrilla insurgent enemy in Iraq, as well as Afghanistan. But hey, no more politics, please.

While a solid weapon, and incredibly cheap, it's just not something realistic. More COD in Halo, huh? Flat out, we can say for certain this just won't happen.

Now then, to the gun itself, yes, it is solid, durable, and cheap to produce, but those factors don't make incredibly powerful guns. And this is a video game set in a crazy futuristic setting with aliens, plasma and whatnot.

But, having handled this and several other rifles, there isn't near enough power to it, at least not the type of power I think necessary to bring down Covenant shields. Plus, we're in the year 2552, bullets, magazines, all of this has changed to a degree that our weapons can stand up against shields and the like, the AK-47, even with its varied potential, was not created for that type of technological warfare. I is cheap, after all.

America already enlists several much more powerful rifles, and the AK-47 is nowhere near the top of the list, most weapons are being cycled out for newer, better models. This, the AK-47, just doesn't have.

By logic, the future would have eventually cycled out from the AK-47, and there you have it.

Posting on bungie.net should require that the user has had to have read a chapter book all the way through.

Sorry, this isn't COD.

If they were going to put a modern day gun into Halo, I'd rather it be an M1 Garand. I love the AK, but the Garand is just so accurate it's crazy.

I <3 my Garand.

I love how everyone pretends to be an expert on guns, covenant tech and the effects 21st century weapons have on them, and russian history. Jesus.

Why hasn't a staff member posted ITT yet? We've had some good progress discussing a new gun for halo: reach.

They still have a pump action shotty so why not.

Lols that's true; you would think that 500 years in the future they would have all auto shotguns, not pumps. That proves that the AK is possible (maybe a futuristic AK, even)

  • 11.14.2009 8:16 PM PDT

Sort of like how you did the same thing? Anyone can claim anything, it's the internet, kiddo, no one holds a higher value over what you say to what the next one says. It's how you present it.

Honestly, I have a hard time believing you've actually handled any weapon, just from the way you talk. Maybe it's just 'cause I get touchy since I served.

GO TO COD FORUMS AND GET AWAY FROM HALO 3 FORUMS
the ak-47 would be at least over 250-300 years old it would be dust right now and being replaced with the AR

PPPPPP--POWER!

A plausible idea in many games, but it doesn't really fit the sci-fi theme of Halo. It would need some serious upgrading if it were to make an appearance in Halo: Reach.

The AK is an extremely reliable firearm that has withstood the test of time time.

It's definitely well-constructed. The breech is wide enough to prevent jamming in some pretty ridiculous circumstances, and it's wooden or metal wire stock is sturdy enough to use in a melee. However, the glaring problem is that it won't be fifty or sixty years old by the time Halo rolls around, it'll be five hundred fifty or sixty.

That's like saying the blunderbuss is a good midrange weapon today. It may be nice now, but in five hundred years, we'll have invented the Predator missile, and all your blunderbusses won't save you.

This is an incredible step forward to being able to cure Downss sybndonre mn humans bineg.s

The 1947 Kalashnikov model is only well known because it was mass-produced by the Soviet Union due to it's consistency and durability. That being said, it is over 60 years old, and it is ridiculous for it to be in use by a respectable organised armed force today, let alone 500 years in the future.

You dismiss those who haven't fired a gun as lesser than you, both in their opinions and level of intelligence, but you've recommended that an advanced military force make popular use of a rifle that would be 600 years old at that time! Next time you want to demonstrate how 'hardcore' you are for having fired an automatic rifle, do it among other lead-obsessed morons, not in a video game forum.
