I never understood this. Why not ad captions or something? That way we can understand them but they speak in their own alien tongues. Yet again Bungie FAILS with realism.

Oh, Reach and stuff. Now I can post in this section.

***Translators is the easy way out of the issue.. Bungie could still incorporate the covenants language in raw form.*****

It's on a lot of community maps. Affinity, Think Twice, Abridged...

I meant good maps

Translators.

Grunts actually did learn Human languages. For some reason, they took pride in that.

As for the other races, translaters. Don't count the levels on Halo 2 in the Arbiter's perspective.

Edit: you did hear the language in Raw Form when hunting Regret on Halo 2. Proof

Yes good point. Halo 2, Arbiter doesn't have translators and they speak English.

What I meant was don't count those parts. They are speaking the Covenant language, Bungie just put it into English so you can actually understand what they are saying.

If you say so. Personally I'm glad the aliens speak english. During cutscenes native tongues and captions would be cool. In game it would be a nuisance.

Ok, let's say it's true the translators are in the UNSC helmets and thats how Bungie justifies it this way....well what about H2 when you play as Arbiter?

Keith David wouldn't like to have all his audio slowed down and played backwards.

What Keith David wants, Keith David gets!
He fought off The Thing, don't'cha know.

No, that would be the Aliens on War of the Worlds.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME GROUP INVITATIONS

The Halo REACH Script (post thoughts in thread)

Writing Lead of Whisper Studios. Check out Heron!

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

NPC elites in combat should speak in their native tongue, but important elites/in cinematics would speak english via translation software.

Video game.

Justified.

Besides the already proven points that there are translators in action. Get over it.

Sooners finally found their offense and USC got stomped. I'm in a great mood! You're the one calling people simple minded for explaining what Bungie has done to justify aliens speaking English.

If it bothers you that much, go buy a foreign language version and read the subtitles. Should get the effect you want.

  • 11.14.2009 7:03 PM PDT

I wish I was still legendary.

Translation software in Mk. VI armour, and grunts were taught english to spy on communications.

However, in H1 (just after Reach) the Mk. V didn't have translators, so shouldn't have them in Reach either.
