Let's just hope the customization you speak of is very present. There is a rumor going around that we should expect health bars in reach (like in Halo: CE). This will be detrimental to competitive gaming.

Like I told you in another thread... Health bars were in Halo 1, yet it was the most competitive of all 3 Halo games. Stop acting foolish.

You have placed no logic or reasoning behind you claim, and can't get your point across without an insult, but I'm sure you are much more articulate in person.

The MLG community has been increasing growing since halo 1 and 2. Halo 3 actually has the largest MLG fan base out of all three.

lmfao I bet you're just a little turd in person as you are online.

Just because something grows in numbers over the years does NOT mean the original should be discredited and not referred to. You're just being EXTREMELY biased and hard headed/close minded.

Halo 1 STARTED your "precious" MLG fanbase, so pay your respects and acknowledge that competitive play WILL continue REGARDLESS of the easy play of Halo 3. Halo 1 was a MUCH more skill-based game over Halo 3, if you argue against this then you "credibility" is destroyed.

What say you now little man?

What hasn't Bungie done for MLG'ers they made an MLG playlist and halo has to be the most competitive game other then COD i mean everytime you die or loose someone acts like you have just destroyed the world. I mean its just a game stop ruining it.

Bungie doesn't care about MLG People!? Then why remake maps, create playlists, cater to the MLG player's needs?!

Maybe it's time the rest of the community got a word in edgewise. Personally, the complete removal of a legit skillz pro weapon would be the start. Reach is a game for the community. Not part of the community.

I mean to me this game is so consumed by MLG'ers and competitive people that this game is not safe for new people who want to play for fun.

Well it took you like three posts just to get one fact across, which was that halo 1 started the competitive play-style we still see. You still have not backed up your entire argument which was that halo 1 was the most competitive. Actual health which needs to be regenerated with health packs does not breed competitiveness. And you still need to work on getting points across without insults.

  • 11.15.2009 8:39 AM PDT

You can always switch to one of the most competitive games of all time

If you can stop your "belittling" then I will not call you a little turd.

It's just common sense how Halo 1 was the most competitive. It. Took. The. Most. Skill. How can I state it more simply? You have yet to describe how Halo 3 is the most competitive in that case. Regenerating shields does not make it more competitive, it makes it easier, get your ideas straight. So until you can successfully support your "theory" as to Halo 3 being the most competitive, I will only let you feed on that Halo 1 takes the most skill, which is actually bigger than any reason you can give to support Halo 3 lol...

People who are competitive can play in the MLG playlist and ranked matches, people who play Halo for fun can play in the social playlist. That's how it has been and how it will most likely be in Reach.

J.Chiappetta

i agree. Halo 2 was by far the best game, live wasn't as big so the games easily forgotten. Halo 2 had the ability to cater to good and non completive players. and people said button combos were cheats. but in Halo 2 the button combos was what set the best players apart from the kids who just played with there buddies. in halo 3 with the AR theres no skill. Ever since Halo 2 bungie make the games for noobs. on strictly a skill level Halo 2 wins. because the only people who didn't like that game were people who never played it and people who weren't good.

Make another halo 2 with everything the exact way it was and i'll be happy

  • 11.15.2009 8:52 AM PDT

Your basically saying "it just took more skill okay!?". I understand you've been posting for a while trying desperately to get that point across. What you need to realize is you need REASONING before your arguments have any effect. And by the way this whole standpoint your taking with halo 1 has nothing to do with this thread, or the original question it asked.

And put it this way, does this sound competitive:
"wow snip3down is holding our snipe tower and locking down our spawns, what do we do now?"

"its okay, he's almost out of health..."

LOL! Being a follower much?

And yes, I do believe that takes more skill because if that guy is low on health, HE would need more skill to hold the tower down. Clearly you're only looking at those scenarios from a biased perspective lol and you just proved me right.

It's those moments like that which would even make the game more balanced and competitive around a skill based shooter... Not a shooter where you can just run around the corner, recharge in a few seconds then go right back out at 100%. Thanks for proving my point ;D

Bottom line, the Halo 1 Pistol took way more skill to be great at than any weapon in Halo 3's arsenal. On top of that, the Halo 1 Sniper took the most skill of ANY weapon in ALL of Halo's weaponry throughout all the games to be great at. So are you going to support Halo 3's "competitiveness" by giving ACTUAL examples from the game itself or are you still going to give examples that you perceive as one sided (when in fact it's just you being extremely biased)?

Please Bungie, redeem yourself w/ Reach.
Halo 2 and 3 both stink out loud.
In the immortal words of Mr Horse: Halo 2? No sir, didn't like it.

You just tipped your hand that you have absolutely no clue what a competitive game entails. I'd rather have a health bar and shields that I CAN SEE rather than some hidden health meter and auto regen.

Halo CE is the most competitive version of Halo. Anything Bungie can do to bring that stuff back would add to the competitiveness of the game. If you need a refresher, go back and watch some of the old MLG vids.

You should be ashamed to have that MLG avatar...

EDIT: You lose more points for saying that Halo 2 and 3 are competitive but in no way mention Halo CE.

Heh, I recently played a Halo PC match with 3 other people, I easily got kills with the pistol.

My true hope is to sometime matchmaking battle against a good MLG player who acts professional like the group should be.

If reach has a solid foundation of things not luck based then it will be good for both competitive and non-competitive players.

  • 11.15.2009 10:03 AM PDT

from what ive herd about the weapons the new BR only has 12 shots making it have less spread because it only shoots one bullet at a time. the competitive community was complaining about the spread. i think they are now finding a good balance in between competitive and passive gameplay.

  • 11.15.2009 10:13 AM PDT

Please read this

Bungie does care about the MLG community; there are MASSIVE examples that can demonstrate this, from getting exclusives before game news websites, to getting all their copies of ODST for Heretic free.

Some people like to be overly-sarcastic or just straight up troll people on the weekly updates. Don't be a sap.

These discussions are bad for the obvious reason of MLG tension and also because they're based off of innacuracies. There's a healthy bond between the two and no need to think negatively just because you are unsure.

  • 11.15.2009 10:14 AM PDT

Funny, I would think if one asked for a remake of a previous map, and Bungie released the requested for remake, MLG would be happy right?

Or at least MLG members would be professional enough to say what was wrong instead of raging.

Your "so many people" may or may not happen, do not speak for hundreds to thousands of others like they are your best friends.

  • 11.15.2009 10:17 AM PDT

Personally, I think an actual "skilled" person in Halo 3 is someone who knows how to win with every weapon and combo in the game, not just a single weapon like the BR, Sniper, or even the AR. Of course, that excludes me, as I have yet to get a kill with dual plasma pistols. :D

There's something I'd like to bring up -

Why does everyone assume Reach will be Halo 4 by any other name? It could have an entirely different playstyle from the original games, for all we know.

I relaxed and put some faith in bungie between the beta and the game launch. Man was I wrong. Sorry but I don't think we can be quite for a second or else they will have some more stupid ideas that they never admit to.

If they changed Halos Winning formula any farther the game will flop. It was just close enough that the 9/10 people don't notice it on a conscious level. The other 1/10 were upset enough to protest and some did go to other games, but any farther and they will notice and that 10% will be a huge wave of bad reviews and flaming like only God knows when he torched that city. Then halo will become a second class game compared to MW2 and other shooters coming out in 2010. Now we all know why so many games were scared to launch near MW2.

If you really want to make yourself heard to Bungie, mail Bungie themslves.

skill = the ability, coming from one's knowledge, practice, aptitude, etc., to do something well. this includes anything, good at killing with an AR? it's skill. good at driving vehicles? it's skill. skill does not depend on what you use.

now if i recollect, most of bungies decisions have been in favor of the competitive community after halo 3 launched. why were shield doors removed? why did bungie add MLG? why are swat and snipers permanent and grifball and infection not? why were anvil and other foundry maps removed? and why was equipment such as the radar jammer removed?

i'm pretty sure bungie cares about the competitive community, sometimes i think they care too much...

nice, game over

Most kills in the world with the Storm rifle in halo 4, the Plasma Repeater in halo reach, and the Plasma rifle in halo 3.
check out my youtube channel

well ill agree with you when most competitive gamers stop being douches and saying that mlg is the only way to play and denying other gametypes
