im one second from taking this to the next level.

I agree with all these things. Maybe certain armors unlock at certain exp. And make exp just a number, no more ranks. It only causes trouble.

Do you really care? you can't automatically see my signature anyway.

ok you want to stop 2nd accounters make a REALskill system that doesn't level lock you and make it REAListic so even if you started a 2nd account you would just end up where you're last account was and allow level jumping if you're consistantly ending up +20 every game so you end up closer to your skill range quicker.

I have to disagree with the invisible ranks, if anything Bungie should consider a rank system similar to MW2 (yes I said it!) in which you have one rank for all playlists that ranks you(not your team) on your play in every game. This would give more incentive to keep one account because your rank would be cumulative.

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

I don't have anything other to say than I like it.

FAIL. Would be so much quicker to sell accounts if you could jump levels.

Corn, Oil, and Wine... We need more wine...

Scrap the "Skill" system and make experience unlock stuff, that's all I need for Reach to be less douchey than Halo:3...

I agree in the sense that you should be ranked the same across the board, regardless of playlist, that's where MW2 might have it better than Halo. However, having a ranking system based on experience is meaningless, I prefer the skill-based rankings that Bungie has implemented thus far.

Well I'm assuming the ranking system will be better because Bungie will be making it not Microsoft.

Wrong. If it is on the 360 it's going to have trueskill, unless Microsoft changes it. I've been advocating having it hidden from players since forever. Good thread Cooper.

Well in that case I hope they consider these ideas.

COD has individual playlist rankings aswell, which are hidden.

People are so misinformed about COD, which is a good thing. If you dont know whats going on you cant manipulate it.

I suppose then that I'm not so much for uniform ranks across the board as I am against ranks based on experience alone.

Halo 2 ranking system
large skill gap
very hard to get a 50 so no 2nd Accs
then add bungies new ban hammer so no boosting

It should be as popular as Halo 3 - original, if you check the numbers of how much people play ODST compared to Halo 3, there is a massive gap, it should have campaing, matchmaking and custom games with forge and theatre, I sold ODST for less than $30 and bought a much better game, I hate ODST and thats why I want Reach to be perfect and have more than just campaign like tacky old ODST.

ok...

That really has nothing to do with this thread.

I think he's contrasting the ODST game experience with "The way halo reach MP should be."

My solution-

1. More consistent gameplay with a larger skill gap.

2. No visual ranks.

3. Incentives to stay on one account.

I agree with all 3 of the points you make, OP. The problem is that number 3 seems to be rather hard to implement without disrupting core Halo gameplay; having weapon or powerup unlocks wouldn't be awfully fair and would change the gameplay a little too drastically, neither would playlist unlocks (although this seems like the lesser of two evils).
On the other hand if there were only aesthetic permutations unlocked based on EXP earned, most players simply wouldn't care and would continue to make new accounts anyway for the sake of seeling them, beating up on worse players or because they had a free 1 month lying around.

There must be a way of cutting to the root of the problem, but I can't see it at this point as there will always be unscrupulous individuals seeking to waste others' time or boost to make quick cash. :-/
