"A wise man once told me don't argue with fools, cause people from a distance can't tell who is who"

Why is finding out host the world's hugest mystery in Halo 3? Why just give the host a special symbol (a 7th column or something idk) instead of making it abundantly difficult for a party to find out who the connection host is.

The game can auto-select host based on whatever algorithm you use to determine host. The party leader can then change the host if for some reason the auto-selected host has problems/laggy connection/etc (say hypothetically the host selection isn't 100% perfect like Halo 3's ...)

If that's too difficult why not just make it so the party leader is always host. That way the party can just change party leader to whoever they want hosting.

I really don't understand the logic of obscuring host the way H3 handled it.

It would be convenient for MM as well so you'd know who to be more careful of, or get less frustrated because you know why you just lost that battle when you should have won. Not to mention, some forms of cheating are host specific, though cheating isn't nearly as prevalent as it was in H2. I don't really see why you can't know who it is without jumping through a few hoops to do so. Maybe they just don't want it to be as easy to figure out the algorithms and manipulate to get host.

Agreed. They should allow knowing who the host is either in Theater only or after the match in the Postgame Carnage Report.

Anyone with 2 braincells between the ears should realize if they are or one of their teammates is host within the first minute.

Camras on PIT only move for host ingame. Moves for everyone in theater.
You always get bullet refund off host so eliminating suspects isn't hard.
Birds on Guardian.

If someone wanted to manipulate the system it isn't hard to figure it out.

Might as well make it simple so that everyone can see and so that players have more input and control. IDK if Reach will make a leaps and bounds advance in host selection but for the love of God at least give us control customs and maybe parties can set priority of one member over another instead of being random between the 2 if they are both suitable.

I think people should have a visible host score of like 1-100. 100 are god like hosts that have a lan feel for almost everyone. I have played on Euro hosts I liked most than most american hosts. I have played on host that people form coast to coast thought was like lan. The score should only be adjusted by MM games. Customs host should be player controlled mostly so they should not matter at all.

I think players should be able to lower there score if they choose as well. Like If I know that I don't want to and shouldn't pull host over player X I can manually adjust my score to I don't compete with him.

Also at games end let the host be graded. While ya when you lose everyone is going to give a fat 0 that will be true for all so it could just be good average and bad. And it just uses that data at a variance on the score the game gave the host. If a host gets a high% of bad feedback it just lowers your score

I completely agree, and options to adjust host would be great (or to handicap like you suggested). I realize all of those ways to find host, I was just trying to point out that you have to "jump through hoops" do do it as opposed to figuring it out easily in the lobby. Figuring it out in the lobby could have a lot larger implications for the game. I remember in H2 there was a way to figure it out in the player finding/loading screen and back out if you weren't the host. You essentially manipulated your chances of getting host because there was a way to tell lobby side.
