I don't understand why you're looking at my profile. Just back off, and nobody gets hurt, okay?

Think about it people. Reach was only a few months before C.E. and another month before Halo 2/3.so all of you people who are saying things like: "OMgz t3h l4zore wuz a pr0t0typ3 b4ck th3n" or the same thing about the BR or AR or whatever, you are WRONG.

Timeline of relevant events, and the games are in caps:

August 30, 2552: Reach attacked, battle begins (HALO REACH). lasts for 7 days before it is glassed.

September 19, 2552: the first Halo is discovered (HALO CE).

October 20, 2552: The first battle for Earth (HALO 2, ODST).

November 17, 2552: The second battle for earth, battle of installation 00 (ark), end of war (HALO 3).

Now, the laser was used in ODST, so that means that it must have been in some kind of wide distribution by then. Furthermore, the BR was in wide distribution by then as well (as seen in H2), and it's ridiculous to think it could be developed and distributed in such a short time.

discuss.

You forgot Halo Wars. They had some pretty nifty things back then.

Never Give Up Without A Fight

The Hushed Casket

Weapons and such have very little to do with timeline and aren't really taken into consideration. Example, hornets which first appeared in Halo 3 are in the book Contact Harvest. Also Brutes who had no shields in Halo 2, have them ODST which is directly in tangent with the end of Halo 2 when we fought shield less Brutes on High Charity. although the Lineage of weapons and technology is not followed that closely in this game it allows for ever advancing game play even though the story bounces back and forth. Would you rather be playing with old timey weapons and be lacking technology? This is an issue that we have to accept and just enjoy what we are given.

Or we can accept that Halo is what is known as a "continuing canon."
A continuing canon is a story that is progressively getting more content added as time goes on. This content may not appear in past parts of a story, but whatever is in the most recently released part should be considered canon.
Brutes did have shields and power armor in Halo 2. Bungie just didn't get around to adding it until Halo 3.

Does that make some sense?

In the book, the Fall of Reach, it clearly describes the weapons that the Spartans used in the battle. They are older models of the weapons you are familiar with in Halo 3. Read the book if you really think you know everything.

I would like to say that... Bungie can do whatever the -blam!- they want with the storyline, they can put new weapons in the past and come up with an excuse for it! So, there is a 100% chance of new weapons in Reach. Sort of like Halo Wars, you know, except it won't suck.

well, of course there will be new stuff. just keep in mind that it will not be a prototype of anything, and that all the weapons from H2/3 are around at the time of Reach.

I'm agent Nahman Jayden, eff-bee-eye.

I have the answer to why weapons/vehicles weren't in some halo games...

Halo 3: ODST = $30

I definately understand you. For example the shotgun has changed in every game. The newest version of the shotgun is the way the shotgun is throughout the whole Halo story. right?

excactly. the shotty was different only because the gameplay was different, but canonically, it was the same the whole time.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Also MP isn't canon. (Fuel Rod cannon in HCE for PC)

We are going to be using the earlier versions of the guns. We aren't going to be using the MA5C, we're going to be using the MA5B,M6D, etc. But we still will have BR55(Halo 2, Contact Harvest) just not BR55HB SR(Halo 3).
