Subject: A way to stop AR beatdown rush

I think an easy way to stop the thing where an enemy just rushes at you and beats you down could be by adding direct stun. Bassicly if someone was running directly at you they would slow down some, causing the enemy to have a hard time meeleeing you.
The close quarter weapons (shotgun, sword and hammer) would be rendered close to useless so maybe they could either add a longer range or lunge to these weapons.
Again this would only take place if they were walking directly at you. It would not affect you if you were running any other way than at them.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

Honestly, I think everyone is whining about the AR too much because they aren't playing right.

Think of a situation: you're on The Pit, and you round a corner to see a crazy bastard with an AR coming your way. You have a BR and an empty Rocket Launcher. Your options are:

a) Back up and shoot.
b) Go forward, shoot, and try for a melee kill.
c) Grenade spam.

Unless you have a plasma grenade, A is the best option. B, is the worst. The AR is a pretty good close range weapon, and it's usually better than the BR up close. Fact is, the AR should win. Still, people whine because they've chosen B so often and claim that the AR is cheap, despite it being useless once you're out of range (Even at medium range it's effectiveness fades). Most people making negative AR threads exclusively use the BR anyway, and they're just finding excuses that they've died most of the time.

My idea is to make both the BR and AR longer ranged, along with slowing the rate of fire on the BR. I think this should keep the BR good as a long range weapon, but make it useless as a CQC weapon (Which is how modern battle rifles are supposed to behave) and make the AR more of the assault rifle it's meant to be.

Removing it would be getting rid of a classic Halo weapon! I'd hate to see it go!

I used to get on these forums back in the Halo 1, anticipating Halo 2 days...I'm back :)

We should just scrap the MA5C all together. I hate it! Bring the MA5B back!

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

I'm the cult of personality,
I call it like i see it, if i feel the need to be blunt and to the point, then i will, if i feel the need to be very detailed, i will, im here to stay and im here to do things my way, if you respect that or not is your choice, not mine,
and don't worry, while i don't agree with everyone's opinion, i do respect everyone's opinion.

the AR is fine the way it is.

THAT has to be the most intelligent argument I have read on these forums all year.

This is a perfectly common and legitimate option.

*Bobfather17*

Or just don't have a ludicrous melee. The lunge range is just absurd and melees can take down half your shield and all of your health. Melees should just barely kill in two hits.

Maybe the AR should not be a starting weapon. People should start with the smg, this weapon is much better for rushing people but the range is terrible. So, in my mind, it is a good starting weapon.

NO!

*Remembers SMG starts on Coagulation*

*Shudders*

I like the idea of having an SMG start, at least on the smaller to mid-sized maps, and have both ARs and BRs spread across the map, allowing players to choose.

In my opinion bungie should reduce the damage per round and increase the clip size and range. It should at least be weaker against shields.

As it stands now the ar is more powerful than pretty much all the other automatic weapons, even dual wields.
