...Because I'm sure the rest of you regulars have also had it up to your nose in those.
NOTE: Some of these ideas are dependent upon events in the book, "Halo: The Flood" by William C. Dietz.
No, what I propose is different. Much different. Rather than remake Halo: CE, I am suggesting a completely new game, but set on the same ring. In this game, there would be multiple Campaigns.
One as a Marine, possibly Cpl. Locklear, maybe even Johnson, as they are one of the few Marines that survive the ring and escape alive. Possibly multiple characters. You could play as a Longsword pilot, sent to take out a few Covenant Seraphs, a Marine sent to repel boarding parties, who then evacuates to the ring. Then the focus would then move to a Marine tasked with scouting for a base of operations, who then joins a larger force to capture such a place. Then as a Marine sent to retrieve supplies from the Pillar of Autumn. Maybe as a stranded Marine trying to find help, who stumbles upon a huge battle between humans and Covenant. As Johnson as he escapes from the Flood Bunker. Finally, as Locklear as he and several others escape via Pelican. If all goes well, maybe even through the events of "Halo: First Strike" by Eric Nylund.
Another Campaign could be following the Covenant, maybe at first as a squad of Grunts boarding the Pillar of Autumn, taking control of a different one if the first died, then as a group of Jackals attacking a human lifeboat's occupants after it lands. As an Elite attacking human patrols near the base. Maybe even as a Hunter in the Truth & Reconciliation defending it from the Flood, then a Spec Ops Elite in the Pillar of Autumn toward the end of the events on Installation 04.
Another major option is DLC, which has the potential to allow players entire new Campaigns portraying the events of "Halo: First Strike" by Eric Nylund, taking control of Spartans capturing the Covenant cruiser after Halo: CE ended, going back to REACH, and assaulting Unyielding Heirophant.
