I figured it would be epic to be pit against hundreds of covenant in a single wave, gives players a "War" felling to it.With matchmaking for it of course,it would be a pain to seach for 16 people.

As if the lag people are having now isn't enough...

Darn!forgot about lag. Then I cross my fingers and hope Bungie fixes this and make it run as smooth as MM in halo 3.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

The fact the game is based on a different engine means if there is a Firefight-like mode in Reach then we will not see the kind of lag we see in Halo 3.

ODST and Firefight were made on the Halo 3 campaign engine which does not have matchmaking. That is likely to change in Reach. Which means less lag.

Good, bad, I'm the guy with the clichéd lines.

The more the better, so long as lag doesn't become a huge issue. And with 16 people there would be major lag.

I have a few reasons why this would be a bad idea:

1) Many people (including me) have LAG with LIVE co-op.

I can play multiplayer almost LAG free but LIVE co-op seems to be rather slow with one other person, with 16 it would be like waiting for google to load with dial-up!!!

2) It would destroy the point of of firefight!

The point of firefight is to try and survive as many waves of covs as you can. It would destroy the stress of surviving as 16 people would easily get to set 5. Then how many kills did you get getting to set 5? maybe 50 if you did well.

3) Some would see it as a betrayal spree

As a problem from halo 3 (mainly infection) people see it as an opportunity to kill as many alleys as they can before being booted!

4) No one would every play with 8 people (if they could) in firefight let alone 16.

What I am trying to say here is, how many times have you played firefight with 4 people? Me, just twice when trying to get some achievements.

Look, the basic fact is that 16 players in firefight would be completely pointless and would destroy the point of the mode.

Xbox LIVE, the final frontier, these are the adventures of the gamer, Spartan Tickler. His ongoing mission, to pwn noobs and seek new achievements in strange, far off games and boldly go where no man has gone before.

In theory, yes.
In practice, no.

Bungie needs to make the system host-to-peer instead of peer-to-peer if this great idea is gonna happen.

And they thought they we're helping us with this "peer-to-peer" thing...

=(

You Wan7 Fries Wi7h 7ha7?

Would that kill the point of FF? Its supposed to be just 4 people trying to live wave after wave of nonstop alien combat.

The highest I see it going up to is 6-8.

Finding the love of my life, and moving house really screwed up my gaming orientated lifestyle.

My vote is for yes, but only if Bungie can sort out the lag (have u ever playyed Big Team?).

  • 11.17.2009 5:01 AM PDT

I said HUNDREDS of covenant (350+) in ONE wave and i said that the 16 player FF could come with the MM searching system so you would not have to MANUALLY SEARCH FOR THEM and i said that i hope bungie fixes the lag as they have a new engine. It would be cool it the covies glass a paticular area and the players will have to avoid, this cancels out camping.

Yep, Bungie has proven that they're not that good at netcode. I can't see them drastically improving to where they could program something that would handle 16 players and the requisite number of covenant while not brutally lagging. Heck, I can't think of a single dev, besides maybe Infinity Ward, who could.

Group invites will be treated very poorly because the Care Package is empty.

The legend lives on.

Hypermnesia n An exceptionally exact or vivid memory, especially as associated with certain mental illnesses.

Sapphire.

No. Firefight isn't that fun.

Sorry lag is annoying and you would have to make the maps just plain huge. Thats a problem for which a regular 4 player team almost could never do. Keep it at 4

I have. I've been playing Ground War pretty much since day one, and I've yet to encounter a laggy game. All of my shots register, nobody rubberbands and I've only had one host migration. MW2 multiplayer has phenominal netcode.
