Comment along with you vote.

EDIT:

Just to clarify:

When I say no-scope headshot, I am refering to a no-scope head shot with the SNIPER. This includes Human AND covenant snipers (assuming they are included in reach.) Not any other weapons.

ONLY SNIPERS!

No, not even the rockets... or the flamethrower.

Original Post:

This would NOT replace the snipe medal.

Head shot kill with sniper using the scope = Snipe medal

Head shot kill with sniper without using the scope = Snipe medal AND No-Scope medal

Body shot kill with sniper without using the scope = NO MEDAL

This would make it SO much easier to keep track of No-Scopes. I mean, aren't they the coolest thing to pull off (besides traffic cone suicides.) The only way to prove that you got a no-scope is to go into theater, find the clip, record it, and then send it to all you friends with the title "l337 n0-3c0pe LOL0L!!!!!1!1".

Why go through all that when you could just show them your bungie.net profile. We have shotgun sprees, splatter sprees, and bulltrues, so why not noscope medals?

I really see no reason NOT to have no scope medals, yet there are so many reasons to have them. Post your opinions and vote.

Maybe we can get it in Reach if we get enough votes...

EDIT

Look, I've noticed alot of talk about how to interpret no-scopes, if they're a legitimate or consistently effective tactic, what exactly a no-scope is defined as, people saying that they're only based on luck, and even arguments that people we become reckless with the sniper because they want the glorious no-scope medal.

All of these are opinions and speculation.

I don't care if you think that someone with 1,000,000,000 no-scopes in their service record is a complete noob who doesn't use legitimate bla bla bla bla... I don't care.

I just want A WAY TO TRACK NO-SCOPES. Just like you can track beatdowns, assault rifle kills, and mongoose splatters!

All of the above speculation could not have been made if there isn't a no-scope medal count in someone's service record. Once we HAVE that statistic, then you can say, "Oh, wow he's got like 100 trillion-million-gazillion no-scope medals. He's just a recklessly noobish leprechaun!"

Whatever.

I just want to track them.

End of story.

Done.

Finished.

END OF EDIT

Just kidding. :)

Why have two medals for a No-Scope? The No-Scope already says you headshot him.

Because you want to have a record of all of your headshot snipes and all of your no scopes.

Can't you count them together?

I honestly don't see why you should get a medal for using the weapon outside its intended area. That is like giving you a medal every time you melee someone with the BR.

But beating down someone with a BR doesn't take skill. No-Scopes do. Many of us would like to keep track of these acts of skill.

no. no scopes are nooby. you should be using a scope for long range and if your using a sniper rifle for short range then your just being ridiculous.

I'm thinking a majority of no-scopes are followed up by a melee because of a lack of confidence in them actually killing with it. This means a no-scope is more luck than skill and is mainly used as a de-shielding tool at close range rather than a killing blow. Getting a medal for luck (sure, stickies can be this) is a tad iffy. Especially with how elitist the community can be and how many of them falsify their performance based on number of medals and/or using montages to demonstrate their ability.

Heres one: It encourages people to waste ammo trying to accomplish an unneccesary kill, and is not an action that should be rewarded.

Should we also have a medal for when you kill someone across the map with an AR? Or for driving enemies off cliffs?

We have been raised for combat...
We carry our banner to our fights...
Alone we are a menace, together we are a threat...
Born to raise hell, live to drop back in it...
Never retreat, never surrender... we are spartans.

Dude I'm going to be honest, some of my no scopes are done at long range, but for that you need stealth. Well along with a good position of course, but not lately... to sum things up... some of us can do no-scopes at either medium range and/or long range. And if thats luck, well call us lucky...
Also I once no-scoped a guy and got a bulltrue(I think thats how you type it) and he wasn't attacking me!

Yes, we should
That was actually a good idea.

Most every no-scope at mid-long range was preceded by scoping in and having yourself de-scoped just before firing yet still claiming the head shot. Quick scoping is also not a no-scope, and would blur the line between what does and does not deserve a medal. Head shots are difficult enough, we don't need to reward people for being plain reckless. And the kill you described says nothing about circumstance or how lucky you were, just that it happened.

My best kill was in Halo 2 with the rockets on Coagulation. Two warthogs at exactly the same time for a killtrocity (two full hogs). I didn't plan it that way, but it happened. I did it, but I won't claim it as my own skill. It was heavily based on luck and coincidence, as are many no-scopes.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

no, but extra bonus points.

THEN THEY WOULDN'T BE NO-SCOPES DUMRE-RE

  • 11.17.2009 2:11 PM PDT

I am of an open mind and I am willing to hear criticism. Also: That's stupid and you're stupid.

We should just take the scope off in general and have it only usable up close with a wider spread of shooting. Oh wait...

No-Scope medals would be useless and impossibly difficult to tell apart from scoping and no-scoping.

  • 11.17.2009 2:13 PM PDT

No.

Sounds cool. I've actually thought about that before.
