Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:
“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Since armor seems to be a hot topic in Halo 3 there's no doubt about armor being in Halo: Reach. In this thread I will explain how armor will almost never get old.
Has anyone ever played Need For Speed: Carbon, Or Need For Speed: ProStreet? If you have then you must know about this autosculpt feature, If you don't know about this feature I will breifly tell you about it. Autosculpt is a feature that allows you to increase the depth, width, and the shape of objects in game, You could make armor any way you wanted to just as you could make your car look any way in Need for Speed. This would be a great idea for bungie to increase the entertainment in their game.
In Halo: Reach autosculpt would allow you to edit already existing armor, For example Hyabusa in Halo 3. You could edit how big you want your viser to be or the angle of the viser. For the chestplate you could choose if you wanted it to be more poked out or if you want it to be indented into the armor. The shoulder pads, you could choose if you wanted the flaps to be more open or more closed or even how far out you want them to go.
So bungie, This would be a great addition to Halo: Reach. Take this into consideration, Either use the autosculpt or an equivilent.
This is a little video of autosculpt in Need for Speed: Carbon, Just imagine it is Halo Armor.
I like the flexibility, but I don't think it could be implemented without harming gameplay.
1. People wouldn't have each other's armors, so at the beginning of the game the host would need to download the custom armor from each person using one, and then upload it to each player in the game.
2. How could hitboxes stay accurate with this kind of modification?
3. rendering custom skins x16 + bodies on the ground sounds extreme.
