Subject: Why would MC say, "Wake me when you need me?"

The key word there being 'When.' As in stating a known moment or event that will occur. Why not say, "wake me IF you need me?" After all... MC needs his beauty sleep don't ya think? I would have said 'if' you need me to Cortana. Do you think this pertain to Reach in anyway?
Look at Cortana's facial expression. OBVIOUS is OBVIOUS

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Simple, it was obviously directed at Bungie...

"Wake me, when you need more money"

A joke on my part of course.

To leave it open for a future Halo game.
Not Reach.

There would be no point in him walking around on a planet with no atmosphere the whole time where he couldn't survive very long.

That's the easy way of looking at it.

I think Cortana's expression is more of an emotional thing. It's that imminent loneliness setting in as she wants to say some thing but can't think of the right thing to say.

'Wake me if you need me' doesn't sound as epic, just sounds kind of anti-climatic compared to the more dramatic 'Wake me WHEN you need me.'

He states "wake me when you need me" instead of "wake me if you need me" to reinforce the idea that he is a super soldier bread for war and thats it. He knows he will inevitably be called upon again to fight some battle. War, to a super soldier who just conquered and defeated all of his opponents, must seem inevitable again on the horizon.

After all, the Chief himself has never known any other life outside of combat. He is a blank slate driven towards war. Had he said "if" it would have acknowledged his free will in the situation. By saying "when" he knows he is still a slave in some way. A slave to combat and war.

The AR is an awesome weapon, RESPECT IT AS SUCH!!!

because he knows that he will be needed... there is no 'if' about it.

also, I think it makes a nice end to the halo trilogy... you start in a cryo pod... and end in one. I find it rather fitting

Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

This, and IMO to drive home the point that he does not want to be woken up until he is needed. There's always going to be another battle for him to fight, and he doesn't want to be bothered until it's found.

Oh you.

He basically told Cortana to let him sleep, and not wake him unless she really needs him. Not to do something like take out the trash, or drive the kids to school, but something like saving a planet from alien bad-guys. That would be the only thing worth waking for.

Because Microsoft see the Halo franchise as their biggest source of income to keep MGS running so they probably told Bungie to make the ending open for a sequel so they can hire a studio to make Halo 4 and earn millions of dollars.

Ovbiously so that she can wake him up when he is truly needed.

Exactly. He wants to be awake when she is massaging him.
