He states "wake me when you need me" instead of "wake me if you need me" to reinforce the idea that he is a super soldier bread for war and thats it. He knows he will inevitably be called upon again to fight some battle. War, to a super soldier who just conquered and defeated all of his opponents, must seem inevitable again on the horizon.
After all, the Chief himself has never known any other life outside of combat. He is a blank slate driven towards war. Had he said "if" it would have acknowledged his free will in the situation. By saying "when" he knows he is still a slave in some way. A slave to combat and war.
This, and IMO to drive home the point that he does not want to be woken up until he is needed. There's always going to be another battle for him to fight, and he doesn't want to be bothered until it's found.
