What are they? Crazy, that's what.

They get your adrenaline pumping and keep you on the edge of your seat. They up the excitement factor for the game above and beyond Halo's patented "30 seconds of fun."

All this talk with not much explanation. Just what would a "High Intensity moment" consist of? It would be a new "mini-cinematic" added, like Halo 3's optional first person cinematics (such as the one with Johnson getting beat up by a Brute); these scripted and semi-scripted moments would occur during gameplay and would flow smoothly.

For example, a first person view as your MJOLNIR armor is locked up in a gravity well while a Brute Chieftain (or Elite Zealot) toys with you; gets closer and closer to killing you, watching you with anticipation as you helplessly try to wriggle away from your inevitable demise.

And then your squad-mate busts into the area, tackles the Elite, and the two have a dramatic life-or-death struggle, only for your fellow Spartan to overcome the Elite in the end - just barely - then disables the gravity well.

You pop your Assault Rifle back out and keep fighting through the Covenant Super-Carrier to plant explosives near its Engines, to overload them in an attempt to cripple a portion of the Covenant fleet.

Many things like this could be added - of course all short - which would just add some variety to the gameplay and show us some new ways to reveal the story.

Plus it would just be cool. What do you think?

it doese'nt look nextgen , looks good but not nextgen
If by next-gen you mean crappy, dark and colorless, I agree. It doesnt look next-gen at all.

Like what they did in the ODST begining in the drop pod? I liked that. I also liked the part in CoD4 where the nuke goes off and the ending part. Maybe something similar where you watch your teammates get killed 1 by 1 while you bleed to death and somehow you have to activate a nuke or something.

Don't pay much attention to me... im sick and my brain is not functioning well.

I like this idea.

It reminds me of a match making game, 20seconds left, 48 to 49, other team has the power weapons and you need to make a move now or lose, but you can't be an idiot.

I love that feeling. If they could get that into campaign it would make it 2x better in my book. I wish they could put something into the game that makes you feel deeply about something, and make your feeling suddenly change.

Sounds awesome. You have some great ideas, Cheehwawa.

My name is Alex. I am 20 years old and I am currently attending the Savannah College of Art and Design to become a conceptual artist (majoring in game design). I am an avid gamer with a collection of 532 games (183 of those are 360 games(70 of which I have yet to play)) and every console from 1985 and onwards. I also have the most beautiful womanz in the world, who encourages me to draw more (I need the encouragement haha).

I surely hope Bungie actually listens to us and doesn't make the December 12th reveal a piece of crap. I like the idea btw.

i think a lot of this will be seen in reach. there were little bits in ODST that hinted towards a much more immerseive games. and they only had limated time to make ODST.

Just some stuff I would like to see. I know Spartans are much more resilient than Marines but these would add intensity to gameplay

1- Double vision upon near by explosion. or blunt hit from a melee or random object.

2- not fall damage but i think it would be cool if your lags compressed when you took a long fall. and a qurter second of compression before you jump

3- Fist person vehicle OPTION. there are a lot of disadvantages of first person games but in my opinion they are much more intense

4- It would be cool if your screen bounced around when you are running. but you reticule would stay in the middle. or even better the sniper it would bounce with the screen to emphasize standing still when sniping

#'s 1, 2, and 4 take away from gameplay =\. They WOULD be cool, but not for multiplayer.

It'd be nice to have an option to toggle between 3rd person and 1st person view in the warthog.

How so

1- i could see that taking away from game play. but if you get hit by a grenade in Halo you are either dead already or there is a BR burst on the way.

2- i don't see away that much if the level design was built with this in mind.

4- It would just apply to the sniper. to emphasize standing still when shooting. and the camera part would not disrupt game-play at all really the reticule was still fixed in the middle of the screen.

Of course they won't be in multiplayer.

But this is an uber kickass idea

Hate to commit bungie forum suicide here but...play MW2 and you will have a great idea of how high intensity moments can be done successfully.

Its a trap!!!

lol how could anyone vote no for this. Its such a good idea

I did, and that's the exact same reason I made this thread. I saw how well they were nailed in MW2 and I am hoping Bungie has the ability to do High Intensity moments even better. They make the story so much more involved and immersive.

Bungie are playing Modern Warfare 2 they are really enjoying it. They play it on their lunch break. It's all on Twitter.

  • 11.19.2009 9:03 AM PDT

This idea is brilliant and could work if Bungie decide to implement it into Halo: Reach although I hope they won't do what Infinity Ward do and make a really short Campaign full of these High Intensity Moments because like Modern Warfare 2 it will destroy the story.
