I don't think anyone has yet discussed the issue of grunts in Reach. I love the development of grunts through the games, they have to be the one aspect that has been constantly improving since Halo CE.

I especially liked the fact that in Halo 3, you could destroy their methane packs as well as shoot off their masks. The one thing that I would like to change is the effect. To be true to the canon, I think it would be cool if you could see a grunt suffocate after either destroying his methane pack or shooting off his mask. In reality, it would probably explode, but that wouldn't work gameplay wise.

Just a small idea I had. Tell me what you think of this idea and contribute any other ideas that you feel are good.

grunts should still be funny but they should also be more realistic

I've always enjoyed the cartoony aspect of the grunts, but I would like to see some tangible effect to their tanks being shot off. Perhaps they could suffocate within 30 seconds or so after the loss of their tanks. I can see the achievement now...

that is actually a really good idea.

I think that is the answer to make it work. 30 seconds and a Achievment.

I would make it like 5 to 10 G "No Air, Air..."

Edit: All grunts didnt read that

maybe 15 - 20 G

More realistic grunts would be nice.

Think of the first chapter in Fall of Reach:

..."They were about as smart as dogs, too. But what they lacked in brainpower, they made up for in sheer tenacity.He had seen them hurl themselves at their enemies until the ground was piled high with their corpses... and their opponents had depleted their ammunition."

..."One other problem: there was about a thousand of them."

"... Finally the grunts realized what was happening and where this attack was comming from. They regrouped and charged en masse. An earthquake vibration coursed through the ground and shook the porous stone beneath the Chief's boots."

"The Grunts looked like a living carpet of steel-blue skin, claws, and chrome weapons. Some ran on all fours up the slope. They barked and howled, baying for the Spartans' blood."



sound like serious foes to me. Could add some more drama to the game.

I wish they reacted to damage. the beat way I explain this is i one had 7 rounds left in my SMG so I unloaded it in a grunt. It was not quite enough to kill it and when he recovered from the shots he was still laughing and hopping around until i picked up a plasma pistol an shot once then he did a back flip and died.

so what im getting at is a grunt, Jackal, and Maybe even elites should limp around and move slower after taking damage that was not quite lethal It's just barely recognizable detail but I would lie to see it. and also have there HP slowly drain maybe.

Normal people would definitely say there's something wrong with me. I guess it's a good thing that there aren't any normal people on these forums.

But the main reason for wanting to see this change (as well as the changes others have suggested) is just realism. I just think it would add more depth and options to help keep the gameplay fresh.

awesome idea, but I also think some grunts should have helmets so it takes more than one head shot, because there so easy to kill already, but yeah I agree, lol poor grunts, as if they don't have enough problems XD

A god who creates tools is still a god. It is not for us to impose qualifications upon the divine or presume to guess its intentions.

Cannon wise, yes that would make sense.
