Subject: A Reach game mode similar to GMOD (+ other features)

EDIT: No actual modding takes place. I'm just talking about GMOD gameplay

Should Bungie add some kind of physics testing mode similar to Garry's Mod? Obviously this wouldn't be exactly the same and have all the tool guns.

Forge can be described as a physics playground as well as a map maker. But what if more emphasis was made into making Forge more of a map maker and add a new game mode for just messing around.

Here is some of my ideas:

^ button still makes you go into monitor mode where you can throw objects around and stuff. Except now you can put down BOTS. These BOTS will work in a similar way to the ones on GMOD. i.e. They will try to kill you in almost any situation you put them in.

> button changes you into a different player model.
E.g. You turn into a Hunter
REMEMBER this is multiplayer so it is NON-CANON
Controls for different races would be pretty much the same.
Though there are limitations for each one:

Hunter: Can't pick up weapons or equipment
Weapons they have are Fuel rod cannon and Fuel rod gun
(You press Y to change between them)
You are bigger than ordinary player models
(REMEMBER, this is NOT a competitive multiplayer
mode
)

Grunt: Can only pick up certain weapons (PP, PR, Needler,
Pistol, Fuel Rod gun, Rocket Launcher)
Smaller than ordinary player models

Instead of equipment the X button makes you go into
Suicide mode

Down button on the D-Pad makes you go into Game/Physics editor. In the physics editor you can edit different aspects of gameplay (Like when you make a custom game type) except that you do it in-game.

But there is a lot more to edit:

Melee power (How far it launches players/objects)
Speed of vehicles
1st/3rd Person camera

The host can decide whether these apply individually or whether they apply to all the players in that game.

< Can't think of anything for that yet
(Community input accepted)

Forge/Custom only weapons: Just like how the golf club was in sandbox there should be more silly weapons like that

Katana: Basically an energy sword but with a different model, skin and animations.

Paint Ball gun: Does absolutely no damage but leaves a temporary splash of paint onto your screen.
Uses: For fun but also if people want to make a melee only gametype.

Monitor: You hold a monitor which basically lets you move things around while in player mode. Its pointless when you have monitor mode but if the host has disabled it this is the next best thing.

I understand that my ideas are probably very confusing but please respond politely

Whats up with Spartans calling Elites Dinosaurs? I mean Spartans are the ones almost extinct! XD

This wouldnt be given available to the console, more likely on the computer instead. Well in terms of the GMOD concept, other than any modding it could happen.

There wouldn't be any modding. It would just be a physics playground like GMOD minus DLC.

Gmod is AWESOME... but when you think about it, it's really just a enhanced forge on steroid.

if you wanted to build more sophisticated structures and other, you'd need a keyboard and mouse because the gamepad is just too limited in the end.

but I wouldn't mind playing with gravity, npc, making structures and stuff.

Yea I understand what you're saying.
Thats why I think Forge and this mode should be seperate; Forge becomes more like a map creator wheras this new mode is like an enhanced Forge.

I like the idea of changing the gravity. I always hated playing in low gravity games but the vehicles aren't affected, neither are grenades or bodies. I think this should be an option like Universal gravity (affects objects, vehicles, grenades, everything but the player)

My name is Alex and I'm from Sweden and live on that island called Gotland that's all.

Bungie est deus of Olympus , terra quod abyssus!

If you use a msn chat-pad on the controller it would work "More buttons :D "

Bungie could well put this mode into Halo: Reach but with the Xbox 360's processor compared to that of a Gaming computer this mode would be limited.
