Subject: Are we forgetting about Cortana?

*are we forgetting about cortana?*

year she crapped it up with her ridiculous interventions that banished any sense of isolation.
I want to see spartans doing what they do best THEMSELVES

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

I believe that the OP is suggesting the Chief is at Reach in the Legendary Ending (despite the stars, sun, and surface not matching up at all), he flashes back to a battle he didn't take part in at all (the ground Battle of Reach) from the trailer, and then at the end of the game, Cortana "dies" from Rampancy, even though the canon has established that smart A.I.s don't die from rampancy, they are merely "put down" after a 7 year timeframe to avoid potential rampancy before it takes ill effect.

No, I believe what he is saying is that at the Legendary ending, the Chief is adrift in space. While adrift he is thinking back on how Reach falls(or dreaming in cryo sleep). Him thinking back on it will be the missions that we play. Doing this will allow it to still be a prequel yet still leave the option of giving us more info on where the Chief is at the legendary ending of Halo 3.

Now, what I don't understand is when the OP keeps referring to the Chief having lost Cortana or needing to find and save her. The legendary ending of Halo 3 clearly shows that Cortana is adrift in space with the chief. She will be the one to wake him from cryo sleep. So when the chief wakes up Cortana will be right there.

THE PREQUEL CAN START BY GOING BACK TO THE PAST...it doesnt mean it HAS to start from the very begining. Halo :reach begins with master chief, he starts thinking about all he's gone through. how he got cortana. while hes thinking this your playing as which ever spartan you want. the flashback is the campaign. he thinks all the way through of everything , how he got to be where he is , how he was in his group, who his group mates where, what they did, their story too..not just his.
he finally comes to where he is [in the cryotube] and realizes where cortana is or how he can save her.
make more sense?

[You] think it'd be cool if this game was just Master Chief remembering what happened at Reach and we play his memories. Then we'd get to see a little more info on what happens to the Chief and Cortana after the legendary ending...
The above abridged posts is what the point that the OP was supposed to be about - by my best guess alteast.

Sounds like the old Dallas ending or the Bob Newhart ending where it was all just a dream - mixed in with the ODST flash backs (seeing as it is relevent to the storyline). Sounds stupid, as GenTSAOSREVENGE said, how will he dream in Cryo sleep and he can't just wakeup he has to be woken up - if he gets woken up then that means he has been rescued or the ship is about to crash and burn in to a planet or other large object.
