"Nah. As long as the prince of darkness is okay with it. I am too. But thanks anyway, Mr. Velvet Spider."

xD

OK, so I have had something on my mind ever since Halo: Reach was announced.

I am someone who loves story in games. I will ALWAYS play the story mode/campaign before I touch multi-player, and plot has been one of the most important aspects in video-games, I think, as a way to transcend it as more than just pixels but as a true art form. The story of The Fall of Reach was an awe-inspiring epic. It contained huge battle scenes and explosions, but at the same time it contained many deep emotions and a space to truly push the narrative.

I will admit that Halo 3's story was a let-down for me after playing through Halo 2. ODST I thought had a great, focused story but I think Bungie can take it farther. Halo: Reach is Bungie's chance to really push the awesome narrative in their game. Developers usually play narrative and gameplay as a balancing act, but I believe games like Uncharted 2 and Assasin's Creed 2 prove that narrative can compliment gameplay in truly majestic ways.

Bringing these people in your story to life, making them feel human but in such a fantastical and impossible story and world. That is what Halo: CE was to me and I think you can do it again. Technology has come to point where there are less barriers for the story in a game, and as long as time and money permit anything is possible.

In summary, I think what I'm trying to say is, I want to truly care about the characters in Reach and what they mean to me, surrounded by an engrossing story and world I could just get lost in for hours on end.

Bungie is known for blazing trails in gaming not following them. This is the time to show what is truly possible in storytelling.

Well they have 3 years, 360 technology at it's peak, even project natal, already existing backstory and characters to base it off of, an engine more kick-ass than Halo 3's and since ODST, I expect some weather effects.

Well, we already well know Bungie Studios knows how to build a great game, and its true that they have all the instruments to produce a wonderful and fun game. What I'm trying to say is that videogames are evolving everyday into a greater and more amazing medium, and I think this is their chance to make something truly spectacular, genre-defining with the story.

Yeah, how about Bungie actually MAKE IT FEEL LIKE A WAR THIS TIME!

Halo 3 was great, is great and its my favourite game ever(in multiplayer atleast) but you never give a sh1t about who your fighting for. Heck you cared about the marines more in H1 and in H3 Earth is meant to be devestated.

As usual Bungie puts gameplay first, and rightly so, it is a game after all. But please make us feel the emotions of our character this time, I don't care if the campaign is short, just make it very, very sweet.

Thats what i want from Reach, a badass, epic and emotional campaign/story and a new take on the classic Halo multiplayer (squad-based or somethin' completely new).

Could not have said it better, my friend.

I would like to see some choose your own fate story aspects... reach should have multiple endings, that or multiple campaigns, like spartan play as chief in orbit, odst play as buck, elite campaign... well you would play as some elite since I don't think thel vadaam was there or not someone else Im sure could confirm... maybe you could play as a zealot, brute once again you could play as some brute chiefy that was on reach

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed, knowing better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives: not men, for flags.

Graphics aren't everything, bro. The OP is emphasizing the importance of a quality emotional setting and plot. Which IMO is a lot more important to a good game.

I tend to die a lot

I agree completely. I mean, in halo 3, did you really care about your marine buddies? Or the fact that earth was getting its ass handed to it?
