I was just wondering if in Reach you will be able to go prone (lying down) in Reach.

It could effect gameplay pretty much and it would make the game quite a bit more realistic.
It also gives players more choices in battle instead of just being able to crouch.

(And please don't give me the 'oh it'll be like CoD' crap, cause a lot of games have prone)

List them.

Also, no thanks. I think that crouching is enough to be honest.

Because Muslims surgically implant organic bombs in their testicles, which in turn will be injected into women during sex, which will grow into BABY BOMBS!

Would be rather pointless considering that Halo's maps aren't really designed to have any proning areas.

Yeah, Halo 1, 2 and 3's maps aren't.

But what about Reach?

If they did make maps that incorporated areas to prone all it would do is promote camping.

Agreed.
And HannahTheMontana, read my post. List the games that have prone in that aren't CoD.

List them? Okay.

Metro 2033
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Medal of Honor: Vanguard
SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs - Tactical Strike
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2
Battlefield 2142
Battlefield 2
Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault
SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs
Battlefield 1942
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2

I could go on ... but I can't be bothered.

It goes against everything Halo is about, including being an actual good console shooter.

Lots of people would just lay in a dark area and kill people coming by them. I'd rather have a nice run and gun game like the other halos.

Thanks. Genuinely didn't expect more than about 5.
However, my point does still stand. Halo doesn't actually need to have prone, and in my opinion would change gameplay for the worse. The only non-camping use is hiding behind very short cover, but since most halo games don't have short cover, we can expect the same for Reach.

But that's just my opinion.

Knowing what I was doing was never quite fun.

No!! But the crouch needs work for sure.

What would be the point? A spartan and apparently ODST could accurately shoot a 20 pound hand howitzer of a sniper rifle while running so going in to -blam!- position would not be any benefit. you have a crouch in Halo to hide behind small objects and apparently bending you knees gives you a stealth bonus' but it not the stupidest game mechanic there need to be a toggle somewhere.

I don't really see any negative points in the ability to go prone. It would just add another layer of strategy to the game, and Halo needs more strategy. Sure, there's skill, but I would like to see a little more teamwork put into the game, and self-strategy altogether.

And as a guy who likes to sneak around everywhere, but can't because he can only crouch, I say definately.

And also:

Yes, Halo does need a tad more strategy. Thanks for agreeing.

Corn, Oil, and Wine... We need more wine...

Aww... He left Star Wars: Battlefront out of his "prone list"

  • 11.20.2009 3:30 AM PDT

The purpose of life is to have the worlds fastest internet connection...

i wouldn't like to see this in Reach, its Halo not cod. Halo is more about teamwork and coordination. not just hiding waiting for some fool to walk around a corner. Besides imagine a dude in bright yellow armour trying to "hide" in a multiplayer match....

  • 11.20.2009 3:35 AM PDT

tjats why we play red versus blue lol
seriously now sounds cool but i dont know why it could be useful i mean spartans are moving tanks they dont need to hide to avoid bullets unless they re engaged by other spartans

If it's even remotely similar to the existing halo games in how it plays, definitely not.
