Go away, the man has his thought straight, and strictly organized. He brings up valid points and has made an impact on my soul, not realy but it would have been cool if he did.

What can you ever really know of other people's souls - of their temptations, their opportunities, their struggles? One soul in the whole creation you do know: and it is the only one whose fate is placed in your hands.

My hands? I'd rather leave it to fate then...

^ My fanfiction. You should go and read it. And leave comments on it. Yeah.

Welcome to the internet, good sir. Please don your flame-resistant suit and leave all logic and sanity at the door.

Seriously though, you're totally right. Sadly, not much we can do about it.

Bungie could enact much more strict guidelines...

I completely agree with you UltraMagnus, that's why i moved unto HBO (halo.bungie.org), a better community which is regularly visited by bungie staff, saying that there are few good people lurking around these forums, but they are almost impossible to see in a sea of bull-blam!-.

  • 11.20.2009 3:38 AM PDT

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

If you have ever had faith in an internet forum, well then, that's kind of sad. Now if you think that all the forums are is trolls, and flaming, and just for the lulz, then I mean you haven't looked enough. There are many users that post with integrity, post with the intention of making a point, having actual discusssion.

Yes there are members who troll and flame, and make comments like "Cool story bro", I have to admit, I am one of those members, I post funny one liners like those a lot of the time. But I also post meaningful arguements, aslong as the topic is meaningful.

This topic right here, about you losing faith in an INTERNET FORUM is not going to get serious replies, it won't get people to be like, "you are so right, no one will ever troll ever again". That won't happen. There will be people who troll, there will be flaming and there will be funny one liners.

But guess what, there will also be meaninful discussion and debate. Oh and I'm hating the artsy quotes you are putting out, they make you seem kinda like a tool. (No offense)

unfortunately that would ostracize one of the largest groups that use this forum, hence they would never do it...

You won´t get serious replies with that title xD

Anyway yes, in the end, you´re right, though this was an effort that will result in a not equivalent reply.

you good sir are a rarity in this place. I hear what your saying but the only way one can make a difference in this world is with action, and whose to say my post wont turn some of them away from the darkside(very unlikely but possible). the one liners are fine IF they are funny, the cool story bro comment is so over used it has lost its edge.
also constructive criticism is always welcome

Yes, but most people cater to the larger market.
>_>
hence the idiots running (i shouldn't say running) around the forums with the vocabulary of a parrot.

zOMFG! You just changed my mind about you! Now normally, when I give constructive criticism, I am met with harsh words, and attitude. But you welcome it and are very open. So I commend you sir, bravo. :)

Keep fighting the good fight (although still won't make even the slightest bit of impact ;D)

  • 11.20.2009 3:53 AM PDT

yes that means he can actually argue and try to convince u instead of saying "omfg u troll get a life"something that most people lack on forums.

Well done to magnus.he s got good points.hes right, everyone is making threads saying blam like do i deserve a cookie etc.
on a hlo reach forum i would actually wanna see some forums in which people actually talk about how they d like reach to be,tellig smart ideas and discussing.there are some few jems but they re dusted by spammers flamers and trolls

  • 11.20.2009 4:06 AM PDT

+1 to the topic starter.

I agree with you 100% man. Back in the days, this forum was amazing. These days, it sucks. All these kids spamming the forums with pointless threads, and if somebody has good ideas they instantly bash it because every good idea somehow makes Halo into CoD....

i will eat your flesh

even though i am one of those 13 year old kids i agree with you 100%

i used to go on the halo 3 forum all time to find out cool theories and facts and cool montages but now its just full of whining little -blam!-es

i used to go on the ODST forum before the game came out and it was full of cool stories and stuff but now that it came out its full of complaining -blam!-es "this game sucks boo hoo hoo hoo" i dont like the $100 (AUD) dollar price tag cry cry cry" and so on

so now i hang out here cause its full of wish lists, theories, fan pics and many more stuff the whole community loves

until the game comes out then its back to whining little -blam!-es (i will go back to the mass effect 2 forum lol)

I think you're taking yourself and the internet a little bit too seriously. Quality threads still exist, but they are getting harder and harder to find. If people would just ignore trolls then they'd go away. If you're not getting attention from it you wont do it, that's why threads like this are counter productive.

Dear Bnet,

It has been a while since I last posted, I left purely and simply because of the number of "children" that like to stir up trouble on these forums.
Now I don't know about most of you but when I started out around here, we were what you call a community. It was a place where like minded people could meet and discuss games we all loved. The "community"(I'm using that term very loosely now) has turned into something not unlike a school-yard, nothing really constructive has been done here in a few years.
Now I make this address because I have seen what this place can do, there was an entire 7000 page thread discussing and searching for the "7ru7h" behind the Halo 2 skulls. this is what can happen when a community pulls together with one central goal. The flamers and trollers are now the kings of these forums and there is only one reason this has happened, you react. These people are here to make trouble but if you simple ignore them the will move on quickly (most of them have A.D.D.).
It saddens me to see that people can no longer construct an argument with valid points and back them up with evidence. For instance, the over 9000 threads calling for the removal of the Br from the Halo franchise. I can understand why some people would want this, it is an extremely powerful and versatile weapon but if you prefer the Ar, that is your personal feeling. My problem is if you are going to create a thread, "MAKE AN ARGUMENT!" don't just make a few meaningless statements with little or no legitimate points. Same goes for replying, don't just flame the dude, consider his point and give your rebuttal in a clear and structured manor.
Lastly I would like to thank all those to whom this doesn't apply, the people who have been here trying to make a difference and put up with all this trash everyday.
So now I ask you all to help me turn this place around and bring it back to the glory days.

and with that I bid you goodnight.
ClaimingCarnage

i agree with you.

throwning snowballs at cars is like doing a bell ditch. The end result is basically the same: sprinting away from the large man exiting his car who yells profanities, hiding behind a house, and watching as his car patrols the street, waiting to murder you.

Asking the flood for dating advice is like you going up to a bunch of starving Africans and debating the pros and cons of the bacon roll vs the double cheeseburger.

Some one who stands for nothing shall fall for everything.

riveting tale chap

ok but on a serious note yea you are right. i have had enough i havent been in a english speaking country for 5 years and i speak better english than the most people here.

OP, you make a valid point, but what do you expect from people posting in forums about a game which is not even out yet? Of course there are going to be spammers and trolls; people will post in these forums over and over and over again to make sure that they're heard, no matter how ridiculous their ideas are and then they are met by others who acknowledge that these ideas are ridiculous and therefore debunk them.

And in the other forums, you have the games which have been out for a very long time. There is going to be a point where the logical and reasonable discussions come to a halt and the meaningless petty arguments take over.

You must also remember that the internet is full of people who are not properly educated or do not behave in the correct manner and so are incapable of such intellectual conversations.
They completely abuse these forums, but they are quickly given a nice hefty ban.

I've been around the block of B.net for quite a while now, and I have been a member at several other forums as well, and considering how many members B.net has... Bungie is doing a pretty good job.
