I love firefight in ODST, but wouldn't it be great if you fought in an arena about the size of Lost Platoon, but with far more equipment, weapons, ammo and vehicles...

EDIT:

UNSC forces would start with you (a Spartan, probably) and have access to the following on limited supply:

- Regular weapons such as AR, Pistol, Grenades
- A small team of marines to help you and man turrets
- A couple of Warthogs (maybe one Gauss, and one regular)
- More power weapons such as Splaser, Rockets, Missile Pod, Sniper (you will need them).
- Scorpion Tank

There's a catch... obviously. The best thing about firefight if you play it at a decent difficulty level is the challenge, and feeling of danger. So Covenant forces would be much stronger:

- No more waves of just grunts and jackals.
- Bigger brute squads with more powerful weapons, including fuel rods, etc.
- More hunters!!! I don't think they appear often enough in ODST firefight, and find them really fun to take on.
- Plenty of Ghosts, Choppers, Wraiths, and Scarabs

Could be a great co-op mode, but with a bit of friendly AI to back you up, would make a fun solo game too. What do you think?

Please leave a comment if you vote, so we can understand why!

You would also get big teams of brutes and chieftains, likely to use power weapons such as fuel rods, hammers, etc. and maybe some new kind of covenant power weapon...

Depends the type and size of the map. My opinion would be the harder the waves got you would be granted a little communicator that would able you to call in vehicles via pelican drop.

Yeah. It would be cool. But as long as the scarab is a boss. Maybe two scarabs?
Anyway, how about sentinels and flood?

I agree - I said something like Lost Platoon from ODST, but you might need something slightly bigger. They would be outdoors, to allow all of the drops and large vehicles.

Sentinels would definitely be different - they would be like drones, but slower and with more powerful weapons. A total onslaught of flood as some kind of bonus round could be good.

There would have to be quite a big space for the scarabs, but if it was balanced well enough, I could see 2 scarabs working.

Please contribute your ideas about if this would work, and how. I think it would have potential to be a really fu nengrossing game.
You would end up with a massive battle going on all around you - just like on the Ark in halo 3, where you have to take down Scarabs, choppers and other troops from a tank or hornet :)

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

Of course

Although there should be small and simple maps as well.

I agree - it would be a range, so as to give plenty of variety, and your starting force would be proportionate to:
(a) the area you're in (b) the opposing force.

What about this HUGE covenet cruiser comes down and drops off like 3 scarabs and like 500 boggies, and it would start to bombard you!!!

That would be great as the waves escalated. I like the idea of it being a total warzone with a wide range of enemies (and lots of them) attacking your forces at the same time.

How about 4 Huge maps?
& 4 big ones.
3 medium ones
3 small one
and 1 "maze" map or two
How about having massive amounts of flood, that don't stop pouring in until 30 mins is up.
Bodies disintegrate (kind of) to lessen the lag and stuff.
Cool?

Yeah - that's lots of variety. Would need a good new game engine to handle it, as the games will be very 'busy' but would be well worth it!

I would love to have a huge war zone going on all around you. the whole thing of halo is that feeling of danger and adrenaline that they can give you. they were amazing for all of the halos, but everything is evloving. this would be a great idea for bungie to add to stay ahead of the game. this would be gears, odst, and anything else times ten!!1!!!1!!11

Political Alignment: Social Democracy (Left)
Favourite Book: Jurassic Park
Favourite Film: The Dark Knight
Favourite Game: Mass Effect 2
Preferred Weapon: Franchi SPAS-12

What would be great would be if there was a gametype of firefight that allowed you to your customized Multiplayer character like you can be in most matchmaking games.

And a flood gametype would be cool. Of course, I seem to find fighting flood majorly dpressing for some reason...
