Subject: Bungie Let us give ideas!!!!!!!

A new game came out that got a lot of commercial success recently, you may know it as Modern Warfare 2. A lot of the ideas that made that game came from Infinity Ward listening to their customers via Twitter. I'm not saying turn into IW or make a modern warfare/halo game or anything like that, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a better way of listening to your community by letting us help shape the game, plus think of the major kudos that would come your way.

I agree, I spent too much time on my turret mongoose pic for it to go unnoticed.

nothing huge, but just some perks, and killstreak awards came from ideas that were given by the community. More of a way to just to make minor changes to the multiplayer and get our input on what feels unbalanced, and what new things we can add.

let me make this clear YOUR GEUSS IS AS GOOD AS MINE.basically you might think my guess its dump but i might think yours is dump but your chance of getting it right is the same as anybody else unless you know what happens

That's practically making Halo:Reach "Call of Halo 7." Please, the CoD series has created the whole idea of perks, killstreaks etc. It would be ridiculously easy to see the similarities.

(1)the only way to escape death is death itself.
(2) pwn the world bungie
(3) never give in to BS, your always going good in your own way.

well of course cod mw2 would be a commercial success, its call of duty!! Same with halo 3 and Halo Reach. I don't think we should get ideas from a game just because it sold a lot of units. I think we should take ideas from a game because the game has good ideas that we can use for halo reach. Like for instance; I had an idea for a jackle shield that is basically a down graded version of the riot shield (as in you can become vulnerable eventually). The shield would basically would give you some sort of shield boost and give you more time to get shots off on your target with your pistol or whatever.

Let say for example; you attacking one a base with a turret on the top. You can't get in because there's only one way in and there's no cover. You find a jackle shield and you rush towards the entrance. The shield barely gives you enough health to make it through the hail of bullets and your shields are nearly depleted. Thats how much strength I want from a jackle shield. And thats running straight towards the turret and not zig zagging. If zig zagging your shield would probably be half way (or something like that). You get the idea...

.....He's not saying that Bungie should add that to Reach, he was responding to a question that was presented earlier on in this thread.

OT: I think that would be an excellent idea on Bungies part to actually listen to their fans about what they want. I know Bungie claims that they always are thinking about the fans and what they want, but it really doesn't feel like it as much as they say. Doing something like the OP suggested would be a great community boost.

ACtually Halo doesnt really award you for killstreaks...
They are a lot harder to do in halo then they are in modernwarfare...
Maybe they should copy MW2 in that aspect...

Making killstreaks easier? Why? That'd mean making the game more frustrating as people would die a lot easier.

Just because CoD sold well doesn't mean all of it's ideas are good. The campaign I think was amazing, Spec-Ops is okay but not replayable, but the Multiplayer is empty to me. I've sworn more playing MW2 in the last week than in almost two years of Halo 3. Dying because someone more skilled than you with better weapons just got a weapon that dominates the WHOLE MAP without any effort is a pain in the ass. Especially when it happens again and again. Even when I use perks that should protect me from that stuff, I die anyway.

CoD is frustratingly hard, but Halo is a lot more laid back and fun. Fun. I haven't heard of fun in CoD since Single Player ended honestly. :P

Keep Halo fun, don't overestimate MW2's awesomeness. That's my text wall in a nutshell.

On topic: Bungie is most likely at a stage when most ideas from the community can't be used because they're almost done everything. The Firefight idea was actually thrown around in the community for YEARS! (The huge thread might still be up in the Halo 3 forum) You can't tell Bungie "add stuff like the AC-130 in Reach" and expect them to still have the Beta out on time.

Bungie has a habit of not showing a game until it's showable. We didn't see gameplay from Halo 3 until a few months (as in two or three) before launch, when Blizzard games have actual gameplay walkthroughs YEARS before their games come out (Starcraft II and WoW are criminals of this. ESPECIALLY Starcraft II!!!) we usually don't know what to tell them to throw in until it's too late.

Oh well, I guess whoever does Halo 4 will have a BILLION CoD related ideas to go on.

emilrulez has just made a fail all over the floor.

Catch Eisley was talking about MW2, not Halo.

SOMEHOW I DONT THINK THAT PERKS WOULD WORK BECAUSE IT WOULD BE REALLY UNFAIR FOR THE PEOPLE WHO DONT HAVE AS MANY!!!!!!!!!!!!
CAMPAIGN YES, MULTI-PLAYER NO!!
I ALSO THINK THERE SHOULD BE LARGER BATTLEFIELDS NOT SO MANY BIG MAPS BUT HUGE WARZONES LIKE A SWAMP.
THERE SHOULD ALSO BE AT LEAST 10 NEW WEAPONS AND ALOT MORE CAMPAIGN LEVELS. 10-12 HOURS

exactly what did IW do? adding more guns/perks is just common sense it had nothing to do with reader ideas. the only thing they may have listened too is balancing the weapons which halo tried to do with halo 3 (br spread/leading shot, plasma sword has battery life and longer to pull out, plasma pistol lost its tracking, more powerful needler, reduced dual wielding, ...). you cant expect bungie too listen to some of the retarded ideas that are posted on this forum (like making the game like CoD or GoW, some dumb weapon ideas, the complex forge ideas, ...)

  • 11.21.2009 7:12 AM PDT

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

I'd just like to say that a lot of what's put into Halo is the result of the community's ideas.

Take Forge, Theatre and screenshots for example.

make that 10-12 hours on easy, so its even longer on normal, heroic, or legendary! just not 2 campaigns kind of like halo 2 was, unless your still in the same squad (kind-a-like left 4 dead)

The more stuff a game has the better cuz you don't get bored so easily, so i agree with 10-12 hour campaing (in easy).

Halo 2 had the best campaign - in my opinion - as we get to see both sides of the coin.

This could work in Reach, because this is the Covenant's single greatest victory (arguably). It would present a darker side to the story by playing as the Covenant - almost in a way similar to MW 2's No Russian mission.

  • 11.21.2009 7:35 AM PDT

Bungie does listen to its fans. To say they don't is stupid.

But remember what one of their mottos is.

We make games WE want to play.

If they don't like the idea they aren't going to put it in. And honestly, 95% of all ideas posted are bad, or could not happen in the time line. So you see abunch of bad or impossible ideas and say "hey I want those in". The good ideas get pushed back and you don't see them, so when they are put in a game, and not the bad idea, you are like "ZOMG! TEHY NOES LISTEN TO US!" when they do. In the end its their game, they have been doing good so far, let them do what they want to do.

And there is plenty proof that they listen to fans, look at the changes between Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Actually they've been making it over a full 3 year cycle, so when Halo 3 was being made Reach was its brother project.

Splinter Cell 3: Chaos Theory, mercenary equipement setup style and spy setup style is very similar.

IW just took ideas that were already good and made a good game, that's about it.
