I'm sure most people love a good custom game, but who wouldn't want them to feel a little more in-depth?
I'm suggesting a few ideas to make the custom games feel a little more real, all of which would be entirely customizable in the game settings menu.
FIRST- character appearances.
we all know that the 'appearances' section of custom games is a little weak, with mostly major game-changing things being in it (waypoints and camo), but we need a few more options.
My first idea for one of these options is the Character model. Say you want your infection game to have real flood in it, you can set the infected character model to a flood form, or if you want all players on one team to be elites, you can do that.
MLG players, you should be happy- now elites won't be able to play MLG without reverting back to spartans!
After thinking about this, I came up with the idea of a 'forced armor' tab- you can set all players to have A helmet, or B right shoulder, but ONLY IF THEY HAVE THE SELECTED ITEM UNLOCKED. if not, then they will use their default appearance. this would be great to have a more interesting ODST-based game, where all players have the ODST helmet.
SECOND, the HUD tab. here we can change a number of options about what the player sees in their HUD-
Sensors- the same as they currently are, would be moved into the HUD section.
HUD type- you can force all players to have a flood HUD, which could be somewhat like what you see in the H3 campaign when gravemind speaks to you. You could make everyone have the elite's hud shape. you can also set colours.
Helmet extras (each helmet would have it's own HUD shape.) you can set all players to have a particular HUD shape, or just to have the basic one (no shape).
Ammo Counter- whether you can see the Ammo counter or not.
Weapon pickup, Vehicle Enter- you can set all these to 'Don't show' (you get no prompts) 'Show prompt' (to show a button- it wouldn't say what you're picking up), or 'full prompt' (to see the prompt, and know what you're picking up or doing)
third, abilities/limits
for the games where you don't want people to melee, or not jump, you can set most things on or off
shooting
jumping
melee
assassinations
getting OUT of vehicles
Fall damage ON/OFF (suggested by TBAannihalasian)
fourth, Customization (forge)
want your ghost to go faster than anything else? want a banshee that can't boost? want your Assault rifle to be a little more accurate, or have a scope? pressing X on a vehicle or weapon will bring up an extra menu, the customization menu. in here, you can:
VEHICLES
set speed (set the speed of the vehicle)
guns (chopper/ghost, other vehicles with cannons. you can set both the TYPE of the gun (to have a ghost that shoots shells, not plasma), and the DAMAGE of the gun.)
Turret type (for warthog and prowler. you can set the damage too)
skin (you can have a snow hog, or a jungle camo hog, if you want!)
WEAPONS
shell type (set the type of the shell- have a battle rifle that shoots fuel rods!)
rate of fire (change the rate of fire, you can also make it burst fire, or full-auto if you want)
Shell speed (for really fast rockets, if you want)
Shell damage (instant kill plasma pistol, and a no-damage rocket could make for a funny game. for a needler, set how many needles to make an explosion)
Scope (add a scope, change how far it scopes in. this will NOT change the weapon's appearance)
EXTRAS- this section is for joke weapons, and other similar bonuses.
Joke weapons-
Katana (energy sword reskin)
metal sword (energy sword reskin- looks like energy sword, but made of metal)
Golf club (same as the current golf club- hammer reskin)
Water gun (assault rifle reskin)
love grenade (frag reskin- explodes into hearts!)
